Just got my blue envelope through the door despite being in my 30s with no health condition.

Supporting Brechin City is now considered a chronic condition, similar to PTSD.

over 50 this month (March), 30's and 40's next month (April), over 18's May.   Seems fine to me.

There is no way it will happen that quick.

Tweets like that are just going to cause people to be disappointed.

why shouldn't it?  It's already been proved that the system can jag enough people to meet that.  the limiting factor over the last few weeks has been the anticipated supply slow down.  That's supposed to be sorted next week.  Scotland will apparently be sitting with 900,000 doses ready to go.

Supply for a start.

When Johnston or Hancock come out and announce a massive increase in supply to allow us to fire through 21 million people in 2 months I will believe it

Did they not say they'd be hitting 3m a week soon?

of which many will need to be second jabs
The crossover wont be that big. If they can get up to millions per week in March by the time appreciable numbers are due their second, the numbers needing their first will have been battered down

Not many at all.

we need to vaccinate around 4.5m people in Scotland

1.8m have had their first jag so 2.7m to go.  about 75 days till the end of May means we need to jag 36,000 per day.

If England are doing 4m per week we should be doing around 57,000 per day.  that will leave 21,000 doses for second jags.

21,000 x 75 is 1,575,000.  130,000 have already had their second jag so that would be 1.7m.  We'd therefore be 100,000 short of the 1.7m that need a second jag between now and then.  Thats about 2 days worth of jagging.  If it took until June 2nd to get everyone their first dose I could live with that.

ETA.  Schoolboy error in the above.  just because 1.7m currently need the second jag they don't all need it by the end of May.  some won't need it until the first two weeks in June so we wouldn't be short 100,000 for second jags.

4m a week just in England reported in the Metro

Taking this as a measuring stick, then, holding back 1m for 2nd jabs would allow for 21m first jabs in 7 weeks.

Everything after that is all 2nd jags which, as has been pointed out, add longetivity rather than much extra protection.

Daily Cases Update:   Pretty Poor day overall.  Uk drops and now even England way below us. Up for the 2nd day in a row. Cases need to be below 500 a day to get back on the gravy train. 591 today certainly not going to help albeit it looks to me like testing numbers are surging at 23,640.  They did less than 20,000 tests on the same day last week.  Perhaps the positivity rate having dropped from 3.2% to 3.1% tells more of a story.  Big jumps in certain councils (See below).  Positive news for Falkirk, Midlothian and West Dunbartonshire again.

Scotland peaked at 301.9 for figures 29th Dec to 4th Jan,    Cases that day were 16,496 and test rate was 11.9%

If the supply is there then fine, we do have the staff and locations so the sooner this is done the better.

Hopefully then by the start of the Euros everyone will have had 1 and a good majority 2

Worth remembering that plenty of under 50s will already have been done in the JCVI list. I think the figures the Scottish government posted had something like 3.8m people in groups 1-9, which means that what's left is under a million adults in Scotland.

Of all the worrying stats produced during this pandemic, that was one of the scariest ones.  We really do need to change our whole mindset in this country and try and improve.
