That is entirely the case here. People are likely to purposely abstain or just be scunnered with it and not bother.

The SNP don’t own the independence movement and whatever momentum they may have picked up in recent years they have absolutely fucked by being so incompetent.

There are a lot of independence supporters out there feeling politically homeless at the moment.

Yup - think I’ve now officially moved to the abstaining camp. Today was just a final straw, numerous other things have lead to it too.

That's me too I think.  I'll obviously vote yes in any indy ref, but for the local and general elections, I probably won't bother for a few years.  There's not one party who don't or haven't fucked me off big time in the last 18 months.

Lolwut?

The SG have absolutely fucked this. These discussions should have taken place already, and everyone should know what is happening. 9th August is 5 days away and hasn't crept up on anyone.

Whenever they can't just copy England but do it a bit more carey they absolutely tie themselves in knots.

So when nightclubs lose any financial support because they are allowed to open  but can't make any money the Scottish government can just shrug and say it's not their problem.

Sturgeon is obviously holding onto restrictions to trade away when she introduces the vaccine passport.

When folk used to say to me 'Ach all the politicians and parties are lying cunts, I don't vote for anyone', the person was usually a Rangers fans who I thought just didn't want to admit they voted Tory.  But I now think maybe they were actually spot on.

If the SG are going to insist on having mitigations in place, I'd rather they allowed hospitality to open fully but with all customers who aren't fully vaccinated having to provide a negative LFT in the previous 24-48 hours.

No masks, table service or bans on vertical drinking.

He didn't actually say that about nightclubs, just that there were practical difficulties with mask wearing in clubs and they would be discussing it with the industry today. But he did say standing up drinking by the bar in pubs wouldn't be allowed. Looks to me like the policy is falling apart and there's a big divide of opinion behind the scenes in Government that hadn't been settled when Sturgeon spoke yesterday.

You already do. The notices they put up in shops along the lines of 'Masks are necessary at all times. Exemptions may apply' mean you don't actually have to wear one. Noone with any authority in the shop is actually going to challenge you.

Most people comply with the law and it's currently a legal requirement to wear a face covering so most people don't have an option not to wear one.

But we have "moved beyond level 0..."

Either we have removed the legal requirement to social distance, or we haven't.

An absolute farce. How on earth can you make such a mess of removing restrictions?

This is where restrictions for the sake of restrictions gets you.

This is exactly the kind of thinking the Scottish Government are hoping to encourage.

Create a problem that doesn't exist so they can fall into line with the rest of Europe on Digital ID.
