If there are vulnerable people who can't take the vaccine now then there will be vulnerable people who can't take the vaccine forever. What level of vaccination are you looking for before masks are dropped?

Out of interest, how many people are we talking about here who fall into this category?

Until everyone over 16 has been offered a second vaccine say, or the daily rate is under 50/100,000 as a very rough and uninformed ballpark figure. Admittedly the numbers in the unvaccinated vulnerable category will be a lot smaller than originally thought with pregnant women and most immunodeficient people being advised to get jabbed now. I just think extending it for another one or two months in specific high risk and essential places like public transport wouldn't be a big issue for most people.

There are no current plans to do this so it would basically mean forever at the moment.

With a population in Scotland of about 5.5m this would mean less that 2750 cases per day which we've bettered for a while now.

Yeah, got mixed up with the numbers, meant the 7 day rate. Highlands have been under 50/100,000 for nearly the whole pandemic, apart from the most recent wave, expecting we'll be back there in a week or two.

There are still vulnerable people about who can't take the vaccine and need to use public transport. It's not a big burden on the rest of us to wear them a bit longer, until the daily case rate has dropped right down to say under 50/100,000 and nearly everyone has been vaccinated.

So when 'cases' inevitably rise above this mythical '50/100,000' every single autumn/winter until the end of time, we're mandated by law to wear face masks despite being fully vaccinated?

Just shut up. Healthcare capacity is nowhere near threatened, and it's long overdue that this nonsense theatre had its day.

Are young folk over the age of 16 not currently being told to just turn up and get jabbed, rather than being sent out appointments? I haven't paid much attention to who's being vaccinated when but I thought the big push right now was to get young people to show up whenever possible. As you say, the numbers of people who are vulnerable and not jabbed will be absolutely tiny. I was on a train on Saturday and it was rammed, every seat taken, no distancing between groups, but everyone had a mask on, unless you were drinking or eating anything, which was the majority of the train. It's just beyond daft now.

Only over 18's are getting vaccinated by default.  Under 18's are getting jagged if they have some other condition that makes them vulnerable.

Thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Broadwood at the weekend. Few cans on the train, few pints in the pub (with excellent table service), into the ground via a pay gate and sat wherever we liked. I wore a mask until I got to my seat then took it off, no complaints from anyone, good bit of a banter with the stewards and a 3-0 trouncing of Clyde into the bargain. Not once was I asked for my name, home address or phone number. Felt pretty close to a normal day at the football, hopefully a sign of things to come.

Are cans allowed on trains now? (Genuinely don't know) Game changer.

1st Vaccinations  60,000 in the last 2 days of which Scotland was 3,000   We are proportionally only doing half of what England is jabbing  Maybe these free Kebabs, against thinking a vaccine might kill you or have 5G implants is swaying the 18-29 year olds down sarf.
