The Guardian and the BBC seem to think it's 2021 again.

The vaccine does nothing to prevent infection or transmission of the current variants and millions of unvaccinated people are going about their lives at big events, going on holidays and studying or working as normal yet pish like this is still being published.

Remember when you were saying that they would be permanently excluded from a 'new normal' society? 🤪

They tried but too many people were opposed to the 'new normal'.

Billy Boy says we are due for another big one before the end of the decade so it'll probably be back on the agenda as soon as our living standards are destroyed by inflation.

I can’t work out a way to get round the thumping great FT paywall for this story. But Britain is the only country where numbers leaving the workforce have increased post lockdowns.

And one comment is saying "if they didn't wear masks it would have been even worse" followed by a wee clown symbol. Another is blaming the 1% who don't mask up.

These people will never admit they are wrong about masks.

The wearing of masks, particularly in winter is a very longstanding tradition in Japan. When I and my family lived and worked in Japan in the sixties and seventies, it was fully accepted that masks would be worn to avoid spreading or catching coughs and colds. Their use during the pandemic was regarded as entirely appropriate and correct.

And yet, useless.

Just because they've done something for decades does not mean that it actually works.

Something something, but Japanese people wear masks, something something.

Up to over 200000 now. Remind me again why over 100 years of research on masks was chucked in the bin?

There's also those blaming shan cloth and medical masks - respirators need to be used instead!

Did you go through the sixties and seventies without ever getting ill? Of course you didn't.

These people must think that East Asian countries are free from all respiratory illness. 🥴 It would be rather problematic never getting exposed to routine infections throughout your life. Alas, they still do.

I've said before that I'm not sure we should be using Japan as a shining example of anything. I absolutely stand by that.

They're not that keen on LGBT folk either, like most East Asian countries the Covid Legends tell us are the peak of human civilisation. Mind you, they barely acknowledge that China have millions of muslims in concentration camps, so we shouldn't be surprised. At least they continue to take covid seriously, though! That's what matters!

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-61269586

An investigation into an increase in child hepatitis cases has concluded that infection spikes of relatively normal childhood viruses caused an increase in rare reactions, leading to a small number of serious illness and liver transplants.  12 children in the UK required a liver transplant.

Researchers claimed that children were not exposed to the routin viruses due to Covid restrictions limiting mixing and the usual spread of viral infections that kids pick up.

Due to my wife being classed as a 'key worker' (remember that) we were able to have our son in nursery as soon as they were allowed to reopen, which was June or July 2020 IIRC, and I'm very glad of it.  I know some kids who had behavioural issues and impacts following it and, while thankfully very rare, the above cases seem to have steemed from it too.
