Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Recommended Posts

Through the 7000 barrier in China (now 170 deaths from 7158 infections) These guys are unplayable!

Many Airlines either canceling or scaling back flights to China.

Thailand certainly seem focused on second prize with such gems as ‘to avoid tourist areas like Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket.’ Nothing like being specific. This kind of vague attitude should ensure they see of the challenge pt Singapore and Malaysia for bronze.

Thailand confirming they had the foresight to import 25,000 professionals on flights from Hubei and other infected areas of China without screening. *Slippery P, can you do something about that before I arrive Monday?

France move up the table on 5 points and certainly the Strongest European performers.

However, Spain look to get into the game with a unique move:

Wuhan Zall, the Chinese Super league team arrived in Malaga ahead for pre-season training.

Stranded Wuhan citizens were finally shipped home from Singapore on a specially arranged Scoot flight after previous flight suspensions.

Staff checking them in wore full protective clothing including safety googles.

WHO are planning. declaring this a global event, Olympic committee to consider it for a future regular event.

Wexit for the British nationals in China has been delayed (like its bigger cousin, Brexit) and UK and China could not agree on the terms of the transfer. Looking back at the pictures of the nuggets, it looks clear that no one actually wants them.

I wonder if this response might be the push the good people of Thailand need to take some kind of action to prevent their country being run by an amateurish gang of sojurs?

Anyway, numbers remain low here in Malaysia, but it'll be interesting to see if we get a post-holiday bounce. Obviously there's a very large ethnic-Chinese population here and over CNY a huge number of journeys between China and Malaysia take place. With the incubation period being up to two weeks, we won't know what impact that has had until around mid-February since some people won't be back at work/school till next week.

Live (ish) updated league table from Johns Hopkins. Japan moving into the bronze medal position.

Honestly not happy about this. I’m sure there may be complaints to the governing body. The latest three in Jaoan are all ringers brought in from Wuhan yesterday. How is this even a fair competition?

Unfortunately the parliament is rigged.  The lower house has 250 appointed members all from the army, the upper house has a collision  of 17 parties to give the army a majority.  This was all voted by the people, but not really. There was some jiggery pockery with the opposition so they couldn't and can't form a government.

The new constitution, which went to a referendum, where no political voice was allowed to speak against. More or less vote for it or we will  do it anyway.

The country is a complete farce when it comes to politics.  Very sad.

Tight John McVeigh is a tit No need to worry we're on the ball.  We don"t screen people, we're going to start screening bats.

This is outstanding! China may be the world leaders in this sport, but Thailand are the ‘flair’ team, always play with panache and a swagger that makes them a joy to watch.

Will the government be setting up quarantine caves for the infected bats and hand out tiny little face masks and claw sanitisers?

6 years is an eternity in Thailand, not time for another coup and the Police to have their turn again?

I think this is where Singapore will slip to mid table obscurity. They have been to defence in their approach and the post New Year bounce may not be as effective as elsewhere in Asia.

21 coups in 100 years

Could be soon, the Government (Army) have already disqualified the leader of the  opposition MP from the Future Party  last November and are trying their hardest through the courts to disband the actual party. The Future party is mostly under 30's voters.  It could all kick off if or when this happens.

Like a good coup, do the Thais. Was in Bangkok for the last one. Plenty of shits and giggles.

The farce continues

You'll be in safe hands if you get sent to prison in Thailand.  Puts the mind a rest.

I knocked back a secondment to Thailand for a couple of years a few months ago. Pretty sure I made the right call there.

Are they being trained to help care for the sick bats?
