But would worry that if something happened they are going to be useless and that's when you pay. I've found them really reliable and punctual over the years. There are annoying things like herding you through the gate before your plane has even landed, but they aren't nearly as bad as Easyjet for cancelling flights. If I was investing in a family holiday I'd probably stick to scheduled airlines though, which aren't that much more expensive these days.

I travel with Ryanair at least 10 times per year (in normal circumstances) and I can honestly say that I've never had an issue. Until such times as our national flag carrier (don't make me laugh) starts flying from airports other than London or the likes of Easyjet start investing in the WOS then I'm afraid it's ALWAYS going to be Ryanair for me as frankly I've no alternative. I've only ever made one trip with them and that was roughly 20 years ago. Had no option as they were the only flight to the airport in Denmark we were going to. this was also way before they started regularly getting bad publicity. Everything was fine other than the fact after we pushed back from Gatwick the captain then announced over the tannoy we'd be returning to the gate as they needed to fuel up

I know people that book with them all the time because they're the cheapest option for where they want to go but I always reckon at some point they'll get fucked over. I flew Ryanair once, guy said the beers were 5 Euros, I told him I only had Pounds and he said that was fine. I handed him a fiver, he handed me a beer and walked away. If I'd realised the price of the beer was actually "5 of any currency you have" I'd have given him Yen.

Everything was fine other than the fact after we pushed back from Gatwick the captain then announced over the tannoy we'd be returning to the gate as they needed to fuel up I regularly fly from Prestwick (as just beside me) and Ryanair are the only airline, however they're great down there as the airport is always empty and only ever the one or 2 flights at around the same time. Generally you get return flights to Malaga, Barcelona, Faro, Majorca etc for around £50 to £70 return (sometimes even much cheaper)with the Canaries an extra £20 to £30 and it's then up to you whether or not you pay the extra which is normally between £3 and £10 for a specific seat and £10 for speedy boarding with a 10kg cabin case included. If you don't fancy the extras then it's not a major issue at Prestwick as they're not too strict and as the airport is quiet, the "normal" queue is only literally 2 mins behind the "speedy" one. If you want to add a 20kg hold case, then it's about £25 to £30 extra per flight. The other bonus with Ryanair is the size of their fleet and the fact that Prestwick is a base as well as their engineering HQ for the area, as such you always have Aircraft in reserve should they have any technical issues and of course the other thing which is often missed with Ryanair is that they have among the newest / youngest fleet of aircraft around. I used to fly quite regularly with Easyjet, Wizz and also Jet2 and Norwegian occasionally and honestly there's very little between any of them other than the fact Norwegian has free wifi on the planes, but as far as service and rules / restrictions were concerned, they were all much of a muchness, despite the constant negative press that Ryanair seems to attract. As I say, don't be put off.

Not necessarily, the customers Bank can initiate the chargeback / section 75 process on the back of the evidence provided, however the actual merchant can then counter claim and add evidence which will cause the dispute to be declined, in which case the customers account will be debited accordingly.
DeeTillEhDeh
Best for refunds is Jet2.The worst are Easyjet and Ryanair.Tui used to be among the worst but upped their game and are now amongst best at refunding.

Without trying to bore anyone with the actual process, but basically the funds will virtually always be refunded as part of the guarantee prior to the actual investigation, however said investigation quite often uncovers much more information which then results in the dispute being declined as opposed to upheld. If the dispute is declined, then the customer who made the claim and was originally refunded would then be re-debited.

Dons_1988
Ryanair are fine mainly because they don’t pretend to be anything other than what they are. BA are the real con artists, trying to pretend they’re some sort of premium flying experience.

I don't think this is true. I fly with Ryanair fairly regularly as I have a couple of pals in France, Ryanair fly to all the tiny airports down the south of France. Paying for a seat is one fee, and priority (2 cabin bags) is entirely separate. They do this glorious scam of saying priority is something like £25 as you select the flight, then offer it as £15 just as you're about to finally book. I've never found them to be that difficult regardless, they're a budget airline, you get what you pay for. I think EasyJet used to run the system you've described above where if you booked a seat you get the extra bag but I am fairly sure they changed that policy around 2 years ago to be in line with the Ryanair policy.
