Stellaboz
How would you describe your ideal football day out? Mine would start on the Friday evening. Stay over at a mates place with some beers, play some Fifa and get a good dinner on the go. Maybe watch some 90s highlights and a bit of the old PS1. Saturday morning would begin with a big, cooked breakfast and maybe a quick beer before heading to the train station. The ideal fixture is obviously an away day and would be in the Angus area where there will hopefully be a good crowd, atmosphere and chance of an away win. So we'd be on the train with enough beer to drink until arrival at our destination where it's straight to the pub. I'm going to pick either Steeplejack's in Montrose or the place in Forfar that sells banana sambucca. Maybe move to another pub or two between 11 and 14:30 depending on if there's a pool table , quiz machine and/or a decent game on the TV. More beers consumed and if the bar does food, grab a bar lunch. If not, find a chippy in that time. After the game, head back to a pub depending on the train times for a couple of beers, beers on the train home and head out to some bars in the evening/union in Dundee if staying there before retiring back for a last beer or two with MOTD/ PS1.

farflung lichtie
Interesting. To the casual observer, it reads like the football is somewhat incidental to other activities of which the consumption of alcohol seems to rank highly. Still whatever floats your boat. Just out of interest, what sort of budget would this ideal require? -

Thumper
At least two hours of train beer, taking over a local pub at the destination end, rocking up to the ground just in time for kickoff, KFC and more beers on the way back. Though it's shorter to use its official name, "Alloa".
itzdrk
Decent length journey on the train with a good carry out and pals, find a pub with little/no Ayr fans, some p***k that used to play for Ayr in opposition to get torn into, beat them, pub, questionable carry out for the train back & into a scummy pub in Glasgow when we get home.

Questionable carry out is absolutely key. Everyone’s already pished, get to the offy and everyone’s like kids in a candy shop. Found this on my phone, think it is from after Partick away in October

itzdrk
Given the circumstances the questionable carry out is on the go before half time. Blue flavour Edited March 28, 2020 by itzdrk
