RandomGuy.
January 2020 Transfer Window Out Just what was already said. Nobody else left due to the lack of players I could back from loan. In Svanberg was a long term shortlisted player. Trossard was not. A complete lack of quality available in my budget. I would've done more if it was worth it, or if we'd been in more bother. Mattias Svanberg Plenty of potential. Comes in to compete with Armstrong, and hopefully improve on him. Leonardo Trossard My wide options before were Redmond, Boufal, and Djenepo. Armstrong at a push. Boufal was injured for the whole of January, and beyond. Redmond picked up a knock, and Djenepo doesn't contribute when starting. Armstrong then got injured too. This was a deadline day panic signing really, but it could be worse. Doesn't cost a fee, just £40k a week in wages.
RandomGuy.
January 2020 Heres a story about how my life got flipped upside down... FA Cup v Everton (A) : 2-2 (Ings, Redmond) Spoiler For 45 minutes, 2020 was incredible. Within 45 minutes, 2020 turned to shit. Carabao Cup v Man City (H) : 3-0 loss Spoiler Boufals injury. At the time I didn't think too much about it, but it turns out hes more important than I realised... Angus Gunn also got injured before this match, to compound things. EPL v Tottenham (A) : 2-0 loss Spoiler Gunn and Boufal out injured. McCarthy has an absolute nightmare. Great stuff. FA Cup replay v Everton (H) : 2-1 loss (Ings) Spoiler Moise Kean hates me. Players are absolutely fucked at this stage. Too many games, too close together. EPL v Sheffield United (A) : 3-0 loss Spoiler A complete mess. Injuried/suspensions/tired legs all contributing to me having to constantly shuffle the side, and its not helping anybody. EPL v Burnley (H) : 1-0 win (Ward-Prowse) Spoiler A win, at last, but it takes a wonder goal. Svanberg really struggling to deal with the league so far but trying to let him play through that. EPL v Leicester (H) : 1-0 loss Spoiler Ings got injured for 6 weeks, so Adams got his chance. He repaid me by missing two absolute sitters. Carabao Cup v Man City (A) : 3-1 loss (Adams) (6-1 loss on aggregate) Spoiler Sacrificial squad in the hope having a rest allows players to recover form/fitness. League Table Only benefit is most of those bad results seemed to be in the Cup. The one win against Burnley keeps us happy. Surely next month will be kinder to me? Lovely. RandomGuy.
Made this guy my top target for the Summer. See how much pressure I can put on them to lower that price tag.
RandomGuy.
End of February and get a spate of transfer offers from multiple Chinese sides for Hojbjerg, Armstrong and Boufal. All rejected.
RandomGuy.
February 2020 EPL v Liverpool (A) : 1-0 loss Spoiler Honestly? Not that disappointed. Horrendous form, trip to Anfield, and we escape without a battered GD and a performance I can praise the players for. EPL v Bournemouth (H) : 1-1 (Adams) Spoiler Angus Gunn got injured. McCarthy came in. McCarthy conceded a sitter. Only positive is avoiding defeat, and especially against a team higher up the league. Boufals return very welcome too. EPL v Arsenal (A) : 4-2 loss (Adams, Trossard) Spoiler Arsenal get their revenge. Aubameyang v McCarthy always going to be a disaster really. At least Adams continued to score. EPL v Aston Villa (A) : 2-1 win (Redmond, Armstrong) Spoiler A much, much needing win. McCarthy again ships a goal. step up Armstrong who comes on the park, collects the ball 20 yards out and rifles it in off the bar. Beautiful. League Table A better month, and if it hadn't come off such a shite one I'd have been happy enough. Brighton have caught us but nobody else have, and I'm officially declaring us safe. Can't see West Ham gaining 20 points on us over 10 games, surely. 11th/12th still the aim. Can we continue to recover from the awful January? Probably not. I'll take 3 points and continue to just to mull away in mid-table tbh. Revenge against Everton would be nice though. RandomGuy.
March 2020 EPL v Everton (A) : 3-1 loss (Bednarek) Spoiler Honestly, f**k Everton. Cannot be arsed with them at this stage. EPL v Chelsea (H) : 2-0 loss Spoiler Outclassed. Completely and utterly outclassed. EPL v Watford (A) : 3-2 loss (Ings x2) Spoiler We'd be a complete embarrassment without Ings. Starting to over react and plan a mass revamp in the Summer tbh. League Table Still falling away. A complete collapse since the turn of the year but still should have enough to be safe. Hard to judge this squad tbh, do you judge them on the first half of the season or the second? Can next month help me clear things up? 2 games in a row against teams below us. A real chance to turn the season around. RandomGuy.
Transfer News Agreed two deals for players to sign in the Summer. f**k it. First... £2m, £20k a week, happy to be back up. Like the look of him and means I can punt McCarthy into the Sun. If I can sign that Livakovic, then this guy gets loaned out to develop. Worth a punt to me. £5m. Looks class, looks better defensively than Hojbjerg, and also gives me the option to play him further forward.
RandomGuy.
April 2020 EPL v Brighton (H) : 0-0 Spoiler Meh. EPL v West Ham (A) : 0-0 Spoiler Meh x2 EPL v Norwich (H) : 1-0 loss Spoiler Meh x3 Lack of possession in these games seems to be an issue. EPL v Man U (H) : 1-1 (Trossard) Spoiler Meh x4. Tactical changes seem to help possession wise. League Table Liverpool win the title. We're shite and I just want this fucking season over now. Could easily have made Europe if we'd kept up the first half form. No idea whats happened since December. Does anyone care? I don't. Lets just get this season done.
RandomGuy.
May 2020 EPL v Wolves (A) : 0-0 Spoiler Now just 1 goal in our last 5 games... EPL v Crystal Palace (H) : 2-0 loss Spoiler Look at the shots on target, then Ings match rating, and work out what went wrong. I'll forgive him this once. EPL v Newcastle (A) : 1-0 win (Ward-Prowse) Spoiler I couldn't move up nor down based on this result, so considered a weakened side. Then realised I could relegate Newcastle, so decided to go for the win so someone else was miserable too. League Table Comfortably safe and mid-table, but the form since December was horrendous. In the last 18 games I picked up just 3 wins and 14 points. Happy West Ham are gone since they spend a fucking fortune constantly. Coming up? Fulham, Middlesborough, and one of Swansea or Huddersfield. Planned to do an end of season review of the squad but hate them all, Ings top scorer and best performer, the rest all great one half, shite the second. A major overhaul planned for this Summer if I get the funds, a fucktonne of deadwood out on loan just now though.
RandomGuy.
That'll do. Ings, Redmond and Ward-Prowse the only players who are safe.
