The SPFL recommendation?

Recommended Posts

Aye, but if it was 14-16-14 you'd be all over it like a tramp on chips, and screw Forfar.
Yeah every club will vote out of self interest. We aren't the ones proposing 14-14-14 while at the same time saying it's unfair and unjust to relegate clubs.

Hearts are obviously shitting themselves at being relegated into a league that may not kick off until January. Queens and Ayr already made noises that they can’t play behind closed doors without huge subsidies (that aren’t going to arrive).

However not sure why that has to impact on the lower league structure.

If her proposal was not to relegate hearts and promote top two from championship to make a 14 team top flight that would start (behind closed doors) in August, that almost makes sense.

Leave the lower league as 10-10-10, that’s got f**k all to do with it. We can promote brora and kelty to make up our numbers. Thistle and Stranraer are spared relegation. Falkirk and Edinburgh gain promotion. All 3 lower leagues can aim for an 18 game half season starting in January.

Get your 14-14-14 in the bin.

I have no issue with Hearts putting forward a proposal that suits their interests. Any club could do the same.

However, I have an issue with her stinking entitled attitude that reeks through every word of her proposal. A poisonous individual.

She'll get a Telt when the vote goes against her.

Could be quite tight in the lower leagues. Shes already got the ten league 2 clubs.  She'll need 5 from league one. Partick, falkirk, airdrie, east fife, montrose should give her that as they will all go up.. So it's on to the championship and top flight.

There was never a previous proposal. They didnt get that far before the 6 top flight clubs said naw.

Would think the lower teams in the championship would vote for it,  Q OS would probably want to vote twice to make sure,

Pedantic SD

14-14-14 or 14-14-16 set-up was ditched even though it wasnt officially on the table.Clubs getting wind of it was enough to say get on your bike

Be surprised if  “ clutching at straws Budges proposal” doesnt get the same

Was hinted on Sportsound the other week that the story about all 10 league 2 clubs being in favour wasn't true.

It came straight from the mouths of more than one league 2 chairman so surely if it wasnt true one of the other clubs would've said something.

I'm sure they said they had spoken to one of the league 2 clubs who had said they were very surprised that it was reported that way.

The elgin and stenhousemuir chairman were both quoted at the time saying they would support a 14 14 14 as one bloc.

Here's great idea to solve that issue. Bring in more clubs that won't be able to play either.

But lost in that was the Stenny chairman also saying he didn't want reconstruction at all. I also heard what you did about all 10 teams not quite backing it.

Apparently it needs an 11-1 Premier league vote as it involves changing the payment structure. Hopefully a couple of good guys in there.

There's also reference to increasing the bottom tier to 16 and the diddies don't like that.

Let talk numbers, assuming teams vote based upon relegations and promotions:

League Two. Probably 7-9 clear yes and a the rest maybes. If the vote is on 14-14-16, add several no votes (perennial bottom of the table clubs), likely enough to sink it.

League One. 4 no votes immediately (Cove, Forfar, Peterhead and Clyde), yes votes from the stronger and/or relatively better financed teams (Falkirk, Partick, Airdrie), maybes from the rest (Dumbarton, East Fife and Montrose).

Totals: 10 yes, 4 no and 6 maybes for 14/14/14...10 yes but more than 5 no for 14/14/16.

Championship. Very much depends on the plans for promotion/relegation after one year, and how to proceed after the second year. Given a 60% team turnover is possible in the Championship (4 down from Premiership, 2 up to Premiership, 8 down to League One and 2 up). The only “certainly safe” positions would be 3rd-6th in a 14 team league. Honestly, a no vote seems likely to win.

Premiership. No way, with as many as 4 teams to be relegated after the two years, there will be at least 2 no votes. Also, a no vote is a thumb in the eye to Hearts...and who doesn’t like that idea?

A lot of good stuff in this post but it’s the final sentence that’s the clincher. Wee budgie is at it and absolutely no one is falling for this charade. The sooner we get this shite booted oot the better.
