If a smoke alarm is going off every 10 minutes, is that a sign of a faulty unit rather than a battery?

Surely it's a chirp if the battery is low?

It could be that your hoose is on fire. I'd check that before changing the battery.

On a more serious note, are you sure it’s the smoke alarm and not a carbon monoxide alarm? You also get some units that combine both.

Chirp every minute if battery dead. Going off means it’s fucked. Or out of date. Or both. In non-COVID times the fire brigade would come round and put up a new one for you for free. Asda etc sell them though for about £20 or so.
