It was interesting to note in Azerbaijan that once major western oil companies were allowed in Azeri's, who had been ignored under the Russians, immediately came to the fore while being courted by the oil companies and western governments, suddenly Russians born in Azerbaijan, and there's a lot of them, were very much second class citizens and establishments like The London Pub began to spring up in Baku to cater for expats.

Western corruption had arrived.

Ukraine expert Hunter Biden will defuse the situation.

Now that it looks like Lula is going to absolutely spank Bolsonaro next year the Guardian and every other security services paper has suddenly realised how much of a danger Bolsonaro is.

Killing indigenous people, destroying the Amazon, a horrific Covid death total and generally being a smelly fascist were all balanced out by the Mercosur trade deal but letting the Worker's Party back into power is unforgivable.

I am a wee bit worried about this one. New US president, Russian elections this year. Both hallmarks of 'Defending our.......', testing each other and playing to their people.

Very interesting piece on Newsnight about China's relationship with the US and you have an American guy downplaying China and going for the US and their own failures (detournment would probably agree) and then you have the Chinese human rights activist slapping him down.

A theme park has been opened in Azerbaijan featuring the helmets of Armenian soldiers killed in the recent war.

Truly remarkable. The Armenians certainly got their hands dirty in Karabakh, both in the recent war and the war in the 1980s and 90s but the level of state sponsored hatred in Azerbaijan is something else.  It’s almost unparalleled in a modern country.

Take your kids to strangle the model of an Armenian soldier! Fun for all the family in Azerbaijan.

Look at the model in the first photo, it looks like something from Germany in the 1930s.

The President of Chad has been killed in fighting between Chadian troops and rebels in the North of the country.

It’s thought he’s the first head of state to die in battle since the Emperor of Ethiopia Yohannes IV was killed by Mahdists in the battle of Galabet in 1889.
