EvilScotsman
For all those saying Israel has never qualified for anything, they were at the Mexico '70 World Cup, drawing with eventual runner up Italy in their group.
Gordopolis
We play Israel every couple of weeks these days it seams."Seams" like you've got the wrong thread...
EdinburghPar1975
Given most of the players seem to be playing 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 at their teams i'm always amazed when we do the 3-5-2 thing and chuck McTominay in at the back. Marshall in goals and four at the back for me. O'Donnell, Gallacher, Cooper and Robertson. McTominay, Jack, McGinn, McGregor and maybe Fleck in midfield with Dykes up front. As has been said, stop them shooting from 25 yards and we've a decent chance...

Four years after England won a World Cup. Israel are a small football nation that we should be convincingly beating at home - in any match.

Only a couple of quid more than the day, so at least I'll be able to pretend like I'm going to watch the Nations League games next week until about 930 tonight.

Lyle Lanley
Paul McGinn called up for the nations league games. Would get him in the squad tonight.
G51
The McCrorie call-up makes sense to me for all the reasons I gave yesterday. Paul McGinn makes somewhat less sense. Don't understand the thinking there.

They literally just did. The answer to that is no. We have come third in every single group since 2002, with the exception of the fourth place with Ireland, Poland, and Germany. There is this tournament called the nation's league where you play sides with a similar ranking, you may have heard of it? Israel were in our last group and are in our current one. We did, of course, finish ahead of them within that previous group.
Scotty Tunbridge
Paul McGinn called up for the nations league games. Would get him in the squad tonight. Is he uglier than his brother? A hard call but, definitely maybe.

harry94
I could see McBurnie start with Dykes tonight. It's not really happened for him under Clarke yet but I think a lot of that has been down to timing. In addition to the backline being an issue, I think only having one winger in every squad is a big problem, so many similar attacking midfielders trying to occupy the same part of the pitch and slowing the game down + being vulnerable on the counter. I think having a front two who periodically put in work to shift out wide should improve our build-up play quite a bit.

afca32
Am I being stupid or is this the first time we've had VAR for one of our games? There's so much going on I don't know where to start on discussing this game. Just please win Scotland.

And they went up by virtue of the fact UEFA adjusted group numbers, or else they’d remain in Group C. Let’s have a look at world rankings shall we. Oh, is that Israel teetering on Pot 5? Oh why, yes it is. Almost in line with the giants that are, Luxembourg. Luxembourg who were beaten by the mighty Liechtenstein last night.

Israel and New Zealand were in a group with North Korea as you mentioned, the group went on with the two and Israel won both matches, strangely though, Israel were at home for both, then as you say beat Australia in a knockout tie, winning at home and drawing away.
