Coventry Saint
Still no thread for this. Least anticipated top-flight game we've had for some time, I reckon. I shan't be watching. This is looking a lot like a foregone conclusion, sadly. We do have Shaughnessy back, and he's been a huge miss. We'll almost certainly revert to a version of 4-5-1, and Goodwin will almost certainly still pick Sheron. I think we'll go for the stuffiest possible midfield. ------------Bobby------------- Fraser - Shaughnessy - McCarthy - Tait McGrath--Foley-Sheron-MacPherson (or Erhahon)-Durmus ------------------Obika---------------------------------------- Gap to Obika intentional. 0-4.
NorthBank
Sheron has to be dropped for McPherson. And I would start Erwin ahead of Obika. Besides that agree with CS.
ulysses
Erhahon was one of our better players v Hibs, wouldn't drop him. Know it's not the same position, but I'd have him in place of Durmus - he's been so poor.

Interesting shout about putting him out wide. It actually wouldn't be a huge shock. 4 minutes ago, NorthBank said: And I would start Erwin ahead of Obika. Another interesting shout. He probably is better suited to this sort of game, and set pieces are going to be our best shot at doing damage, especially with JS back in the line-up.

All last season Obika started every game as there was no competition. Now there is and he has got to be made aware that if he is not on top of his game there is someone else to take his place. Obika is not at his best when playing on his own which will undoubtedly be the case tonight so I do not expect much from him. Erwin needs some game time and a chance to show what he can do and put pressure on Obika. For me there are more reasons to play Erwin than Obika. And I would not play Ethan out wide - looked lost out there in the past. Think we more need his forward passing from midfield.
ZingaliMan
What have Celtic spent on transfer fees this year 10/15/20 million. Avarage Celtic salary is over £800,000. St Mirren no transfer fees paid. Avarage St Mirren salary 48,000. How can you expect a competitive game seriously.

If they dont up their game and Goodwin persists on playing them then we are in for another shit season.
ulysses
We could always go with a really tight midfield 5. Do the old Scotland style 4-5-1 where we had Scott Brown and Lee McCulloch wide! McGrath - MacPherson - Foley - Sheron - Erhahon

To be fair, Goody has dropped both McAllister and Durmus already this season, so I don't think he's afraid to. Sheron has been poor and really needs a big performance tonight. I'm sure he'll play. Can't wait for Magennis and Flynn back!

I would change McPherson for Sheron , McPherson is head and shoulders above Sheron on football terms.

I don’t think anyone is expecting a competitive game mate.

Ric
My two cents... 1¢ we at least have a stable back four available to us which will settle the team down and allow Foley to return to midfield. 2¢ Connolly surely has to start here. The best chance we have of getting a goal is from a break away when Celtic push high, and he looks like he's always aiming to be in space and ready to make a run. Agreed, got a feeling that Connolly and Morias or Durmus will be wide with Erwin up top. We need pace on the wings to get us up the park and support the front player.
wastecoatwilly
I hope Lennon sticks with the 3-5-2 even thou we look dodgy in the wide area's,with 60% or 70% of the ball it will be hard for any team to keep us from scoring. St Mirren are one of the better defensive units in the league and with shaughnessy back they should be more solid than they were against Hibs.
WeeMentalDavie
Same team as Saturday unless he fancies a change in midfield, 0-3 to the ghood ghuys -

glenburn bud
I fear a similar scoreline that Ross County suffered against Celtic. Shaughnessy will make a difference but only if Sheron is punted and Cammy McPherson brought in to shore up midfield. Id also drop Obika and start with Erwin and give Connoly a run from the start. Durmus and McAllister are passengers thus far.
