Maybe I’m being harsh, but we all have things going on. Iv timed out twice this season I think and happily took the defeats as it’s my fault. I don’t think folk should just be allowed to go awol. It’s 1 move per day, it’s not that tough to keep up with.

Well sure, but we're near the end of the season, we might as well finish off the games not involving the two stragglers and then void the results if necessary (which seems likely in both cases).

Today's Norway Chess tournament had current World Champion Ding Liren facing off against his predecessor, and world ranked #1 player, Magnus Carlsen, and this position poses both a bit of a shock, as well as an elementary puzzle. Ding Liren plays Rb2 29 moves in. Magnus/White to play. What's the next move?

Poor Ding is really struggling, apparently with some kind of mental health issue. I really hope he's OK, the WC match will be brutal if he's blundering trivial puzzle rush material.

Division B Final Table

PnBmathematics 16 12 1 3 37

Dustysghost 16 4 0 12 12
N5_Spur 16 3 0 13 9
RBWatson 16 2 2 12 8

Due to chronic lack of progress in finishing games, weeyin13 has been disqualified and their four games have been voided.

The last two fixtures have also been played out, and that means that the last games have been played, and barring any errors and corrections, this season is over.

With that, I can announce that beef2711 / @Cheese to be the winner of Division B (the biggest surprise being that he ended up in Division B to start with!).

PnBmathematics / @mathematics comes in second and gets the second automatic promotion spot, and P&B Chess debutante @Davi3j puts in a very good performance, that would have likely netted them automatic promotion to the top tier, were it not for the presence of the out-of-place beef. As it is, though, he gets a chance of a promotion with a playoff against either invergowrie or pleslie99, pending the results of the final Division A fixtures.

Congratulations to the three top players, and thanks to everyone involved for making this a relatively easy tournament to run and I hope to see you all next season; callups will start once the season is over!

Apologies, I didn’t realise I had an outstanding fixture against anyone else. Invite sent to @Ken Deans. We will get it wrapped up asap
