hearthammer
Apologies if this has been covered before. My 1st '45 I bought was with a 10 shilling record token in 1969. Mea Culpa My 1st LP was Roxy Music - For Your Pleasure in 1973, swiftly followed by the eponymous 1st album, Roxy Music Can any P & Bers remember their 1st single/LP ?? Jimi Shandrix
Oooh @hearthammer, "For Your Pleasure" is a belter of a first album. My first album purchased was "Rio" by Duran Duran on cassette, which I still really like. My first 7" single was "Ally's Tartan Army" by Andy Cameron, which I am much less enamoured by.
pozbaird
First album I ever bought was Slade’s ‘Old New, Borrowed & Blue’, 1974. Think the first single I ever bought was one of the Sweet’s early singles. Wig Wam Bam maybe.
Academically Deficient
First single? Cant remember exactly but it was probably a Division 2 punk/new wave 45. Boomtown Rats, Lurkers maybe. First lp was, bizarre enough Euroman Cometh by JJ Burnel. Bought it off another Stranglers fan who was disappointed it wasn't "punky" enough.
BFTD
I have a memory of seeing this in a branch of Woolworths when I was about three years old and asking my mum to buy it. I think my first 7" was either the Wonderdog Ruff Mix or Pass the Dutchie by Musical Youth. I had amazing musical taste when I was at nursery school.

First cassette was probably a freebie from NME, Melody Maker etc or one of the monthly music mags. First CD Hoodoo Gurus - Blow Your Cool.

You'll see I deleted ELO from the quote for decency's sake. Anyway, Lynn Anderson, Rose Garden and Mud, Mud Rock Vol 1. My sister already had Slade and T. Rex albums. coprolite
Singles- 2 at the same time: Bananarama, Love in the First Degree and Fat Boys /Beach Boys, Wipeout. Album-Duran Duran, Seven and the ragged Tiger. Albums were cheaper because i lived in the far east and got knock offs and could only get singles when we came back to the UK. Not proud of any of the above.

Al B
First album that was bought specifically for me was "Shaky" by Shakin' Stevens. First album I bought with my own money was either True Blue by Madonna, or Bad by Michael Jackson. I can't remember without checking which came out first. First single, I have no particular memory of at all.
