LongTimeLurker
In a similar manner to Ken Ferguson in SPFL board terms, George Fraser is going to find that his influence on the game won't last because his club simply won't be able to hack it at tier 5 level over the medium to long term once the top west clubs start to arrive and even before that as more of the existing members from a non recent junior background get relegated other league officeholders may well be voted in. It's too bad Tom Johnston and co did what they did back in the 100k toilet block and holy grail era to allow this small clique of clubs to gain the unhealthy influence they currently have but eventually the damage will be undone.

A Mackie Motors £300 money of voucher and a box of out of date cheesey wotsits should have been enough for Georgie and Co to welcome them in.

Absolutely nobody is against giving young players more experience. At the moment, to get first team experience, young players at big clubs can either get first team experience with their own clubs or go on loan. If you're going to argue in favour of colts, you have to explain how playing in a colt side is better experience than going on loan. 2. Absolutely nobody is against colts because it benefits the OF. The point being made is that of course the OF are in favour of it because it will benefit them in terms of hoarding young players, not that colts will produce better players. The accusation is that the pro-colt argument that it will produce better players is simply a smokescreen for the true goal of the OF hoarding more young Scottish players so that they're less likely to lose out on a Robertson or McGinn or have to pay clubs like Motherwell for a Turnbull. In saying all that about the OF, Stranraer have a similar team in the SOS and Nairn County have one in the NCL. Maybe teams like Ayr United and Kilmarnock should have their is the WOSL and so on.

Stranraer Reserves actually won the SoS league but were unable to be promoted to the Lowland League ON MERIT because the rules state that no 2nd team is allowed into tier 5. Oh, and the next eligible club were denied the right to a playoff with the EoS champions as only the champion clubs are allowed in the playoffs... Precedent set! Good luck to the Lowland Leagues “3rd place” team getting into the SPFL playoff next season. Good job Mr Fraser and the rest of the sellouts

It's only 5 years ago when Edinburgh City became the first club to get promoted into the SPFL. Juniors were all separate and no clubs were promoted into tier 5 yet. There were only a handful of tier 6 teams left in the South and East with none in the west.Since then:-2 more clubs got promoted to the SPFL, both former junior, one of which reached the Championship play-offs this season -there has been promotion from tier 6 every year (except one null and void season)-every junior club joined the pyramid-the NCL joined the pyramid-quite a few amateurs and new/youth clubs joined the pyramidAll while we basically lost a whole year due to a global pandemic. There is plenty of criticism I still have at the pyramid, like the colt team saga and too few promotion spots to tier 6. But things are definitely considerably better than it was and most people expected in a relatively short period.

The pyramid is still something everyone should be behind. Edited May 30, 2021 by leomessi1984

edinabear
It would be good to see hearts and hibs b teams coming in next season with maybe Aberdeen and Ross county's joining the Highland league. Will benefit scottish football overall. -

And they are free to apply to the EOS and the North Juniors and Norrth Caledonian.Take their rightful place at the bottom alongside any new applications from Amateur teams.
