craigkillie
The Netherlands game is being played in Ryan Gauld's home stadium - hopefully we can get him along and sort him out with some tickets.
craigkillie
I think the SFA have got the dates the wrong way round - the Netherlands just announced the game as being on the 2nd June and now the SFA have deleted it. The SFA website has it the other way round, so I think it was just the tweet that was wrong. 2nd June - Netherlands in Faro. 6th June - Luxembourg away
G51
Can you imagine how class a pre-COVID trip to the Algarve to watch Scotland v the Netherlands in a pre-Euros friendly would be?

The squad has to be announced on 1st June, so these games will come too late for that.

Are we sure the lamestream media haven't just been feeding us lies about Gauld and he's actually working there? Might be worth keeping an eye on.

This is his 12th such award of the season, to go with 3 assists and 2 goals." -
Thumper
So following on from a qualifying triplet which was in the wrong order (get battered against Austria, play far too within ourselves against Israel, and then finish with a game so easy that it doesn't teach anything) we're playing the 2010 finalists (and having to do it on neutral ground because both countries have fucked their plague responses) and probably getting cuffed before following it up with a complete gimme that will paper over the cracks again.
craigkillie
We didn't get battered against Austria, and the game against the Netherlands is in Portugal because we're having a training camp there.

How far is too far to look back to talk about nations and previous achievements? It's burying the lead a bit to talk about the Netherlands as "the 2010 finalists" when they're only just recovering from having an absolute nightmare.
HuttonDressedAsLahm
Of all the Tier 1 nations to play against, the Netherlands isn't the worst. They are technically excellent, but can be got at (re their capitulation against Turkey some 10 days ago). They are a step above the Czechs, and Croatia, and on a similar level to England. Useful. Luxembourg are no one's diddies. It absolutely has the potential for "disappointing 1-1 draw" which is hardly ideal preparation, but I'd hope that we'd be massively up for it. They'll be stuffy, and offer a goal threat, which will be useful for both Euro 2020, and the later WC qualification matches. On a somewhat unrelated note, it doesn't look like squad sizes have been confirmed yet? I'm pretty confident that it will move to more than 23-man teams, but nothing being reported since it was first mentioned last week.
craigkillie
They're deciding which venues will be used and with how many fans in each this week, and then I think stuff like squad sizes will come the week after that.
