Rutherglen Glencairn 2021-22

Recommended Posts

There's not much I can say about today other than we looked like a team who hadn't played for three weeks. We had a really good quarter of the game after half time when we pulled it back from 3-0 to 3-2, but then we shot ourselves in the foot to concede Cumnock's 4th. That killed our spirit. Credit to McLaughlin for two outstanding strikes though. [emoji122]

That was far from a classic today, but there was a lot at stake for both teams and I think supporters of both sides left disappointed by only taking a point. But we've edged a point closer to where we need to be, so it wasn't a disaster. We have ten league games left, and five of them are against teams currently below us in the table. I reckon three wins and a draw from those ten matches would be enough to stay up, but time will tell.

We are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Craig Murray from Cumbernauld Colts.

Craig is 27 years old and is a product of Aberdeen's youth system, and made five appearances for the first team at Pittodrie before moving on loan to Ayr United, followed by a season at East Fife. Craig has been playing in the Lowland League with Colts for the past six years.

We welcome Craig into the squad for this Saturday's cup semi final against Drumchapel United.

Please see attached correct versions of our club badge, both the original from 1896 and the modernised version which our youth teams use. Please destroy any copies of the one with [emoji777]️ marked on it as it is an incorrect version which we are trying to get out of circulation.[emoji106][emoji469][emoji460]️73c359bdf5d918c931bb7c5282407db7.jpg104c707404c0a9240ac7a36b62f29eaf.jpgf5bb3ba1fcc21427a6b2260efda8ef55.jpg

You'll need to get on google images and find all the sites using the old ones (I see the websites of Cumbernauld and Pollok are using it).

Hopefully over time the incorrect badge will stop being used. Whoever created the file in the first place was horrendously careless and has caused a great deal of irritation amongst our membership.

Heartbreaking for us today at Clydebank. 3-2 up and clean through on goal with 5 minutes left, Byrne takes out Maley as he's about to roll the ball past Donnelly to make it 4-2. A red card but no goal.

6th minute of added time, Fraser Malcolm has to go off with head knock, referee adds on a 7th minute due to the injury treatment. 10v10, Clydebank pile it on and score, a question of offside as well.

Heartbreaking, especially after Rossvale's last-gasp equaliser against us a couple of weeks ago and Largs' dodgy late penalty equaliser against us in the game before that.

We just can't get to the final whistle at the moment, and that's 6 huge points that would have us breathing much more easily.

Enormous game next week now, The Battle of The Glens.

The Bankies did just about everything they could to give you the three points today
