stulch
Every club in the EoS and WoS needs to add their signature to a letter to the Lowland League asking for more relegation / promotion places.

Agree 100% with this. George Fraser and his ventilation comments. Where is the 50k that the traitors voted for.

But yeah, them going down this season doesn't fix the overall issue that there isn't enough movement between tiers. Ha. My mum could be playing centre half for them and they couldn't have picked up fewer points than they have in almost 2 years.
Dev
9 hours ago, Gordon EF said: Aye, you might as well just say if clubs in the pyramid wanted into the SPFL, they should have made successful applications 100 years ago. It's objectively ridiculous that the SPFL, the LL, and the HL all have such meagre relegation spots and make it so difficult for clubs from below to win promotion. At least with the SPFL, there isn't the issue of hypocrisy where they're bemoaning the 'protectionism' of another league whilst doing exactly the same thing. Of course none of this is VoL's fault. Their situation isn't the disease, it's the symptom. One of the arguments in favour of the pyramid was how it was possible for East Stirlingshire to finish bottom of the SPFL for so many seasons and not be relegated anywhere. Vale of Leithen are many, many times worse than East Stirlingshire ever were, in relative terms. Well said! This all goes back to the SFA which is supposed to be in charge of football but shows no idea at all. Not much sign of that changing. Until then it's down to the individual leagues - as Burnieman has repeatedly said so many times.

Was basing it on having the finances, AND with a good support, then maybe they're a welcome replacement. Guess most ambitious lower league clubs would have a decent budget in order to move forward.

Kelty will rise as far as their money takes them and then move back down when it's gone.

FairWeatherFan
All told there's probably been more good than bad. Seriously misjudged the colts idea and getting SPFL reconstruction through that included them. On borrowed time ever since.

boheesian
F From the Daily Mail The vice chairman of the LL has been asked by the SFA to find a ‘compromise’ which would allow the governing body to sign off new rules preventing the suspension of the Old Firm Colts and allowing clubs to nominate which team contests the pyramid play-off. With that in mind, teams have now been asked by the league board to respond to a questionnaire proposing potential solutions to take to the SFA by 5 pm tomorrow. A lot of wriggling will take place between now and 5 pm tomorrow. Will the 5 clubs who opposed the introduction of the Colt have wry smile on their faces. Dev
Here is the link to the newspaper web site i.e. Daily Mail via the Scottish Sun, and the article: The Scottish Sun https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/7709637/celtic-rangers-lowland-league-sfa/ Celtic and Rangers B teams ‘could be SUSPENDED from Lowland League’ if SFA rules row isn’t sorted David Fowler 8:24, 16 Sep 2021 Updated: 8:46, 16 Sep 2021 CELTIC and Rangers B teams could be SUSPENDED from the Lowland League and have their results voided if clubs can’t fix a row with the SFA. In May the Old Firm Colts were voted into the fifth tier of Scottish football for one season only, with Gers currently second and the Hoops in sixth spot. But last season’s rules don’t recognise B teams. And with the Old Firm ineligible for promotion to League Two, the SFA are in no rush to sign off on new rules that would allow the Lowland League to choose their own champions to go into the pyramid play-off game against the Highland League winners. The SFA want an agreement hammered out over new rules regarding the promotion process. And they've warned the Lowland League that the Old Firm clubs could be suspended and results declared null and void until that is all sorted. The SFA and SPFL also want the Lowland League to scrap the current boundary rule that sees teams relegated out of League Two from north of the River Tay going into the Highland League and those south of it going into the Lowland League. Last season Brechin City wanted to go into the Lowland League after falling out of the SPFL but that proposal was voted down 17-0. According to a report in the Daily Mail, the Lowland League chairman George Fraser has stepped down over this ongoing row. And SFA president Rod Petrie now wants vice-chairman Graeme Mullin to sign off on a compromise that would see the whole issue resolved without Celtic or Rangers B teams being suspended. Teams have until 5pm tomorrow to respond to a questionnaire sent to them by Mullin looking for solutions. According to the Mail, Mullin wrote: “We are now faced with a major decision on how to gain the Scottish FA approval of the rules that were adopted at the AGM in May 2021. “The alternative to this is to refer back to version 15 of our rules, which would regretfully involve the suspension of the guest clubs and the voiding of all associated results to date. “Based on this information, I ask that all clubs spend the next few days seriously considering the situation with a view to providing a club perspective to the Board and new Chairperson.” Now we know why Fraser walked. Whether anyone likes it or not either the rules need to be OK'd by the SFA or they do not. If they need to be OK'd then the SFA has a duty of care to deal with that in good time and that has not happened. If they don't need to be OK'd then this is the SFA (and SPFL?) bringing the game into disrepute, isn't it? Either way start at the top and close down and restart the SFA as it is showing that it is not fit for purpose. UEFA where are you? Gimme
Hopefully the clubs stick to their guns with regards the boundary. If that means the colts go and their results expunged then so be it, it only really impacts Bonnyrigg and CSS anyway.
LongTimeLurker
Was moronic of the LL board to proceed without SFA approval, so no surprise it has come to this. Think the problem is whether all the games played under an unapproved set of rules would stand up to protest as valid if they revert to version 15. My understanding of what was said by Thomas Brown in the recent podcast was that they were not sure they would and that could mess up both promotion and relegation from the LL. That gives Petrie and co a lot of leverage.
jamamafegan
In the article Petrie refers to the colts as “guest clubs.” What other reputable footballing nations have leagues in the national set-up where they invite “guest clubs?” It just sounds absolutely pathetic to me. The whole thing has been an embarrassing shambles.Best thing for the Lowland League to do now is to expel the OF colts from the league, create more promotion/relegation spots and put this sorry mess behind them.

GNU_Linux
Also this fascination with the boundry the SFA have is bizzare considering none of the 5 SPFL clubs in Tayside are going to be near being club 42.

Looks like they are probably still trying to get Brechin into the LL for 2022-23. Don't underestimate the capacity of people in authority to keep pushing an issue they would normally not give a toss about simply as a way to display who wields the most power. Beyond that the three part-time SPFL clubs on Tayside all know they could easily be club 42 eventually.
