County vs Rangers

While it would certainly make a statement, I don’t think is entirely practical.

For any of those participating in the sickening behaviour, there could be any number of others who weren’t.

Additionally, anyone that’s been on these away trips knows that supporters clubs often share busses and have non-members travelling so I don’t think it would be fair or reasonable to punish all.

I wholeheartedly agree those involved should be punished, and Rangers have confirmed they are already working to identify them, I just don’t think a blanket approach is the answer.

I think we are getting past the point where practical solutions or just dealing with individuals can be considered effective.

If a supporters club put on a bus to transport fans to away grounds members or not they should be forced to take the responsibility for the conduct of the fans they are transporting and be clear to them what defines as reasonable behaviour.

It should then make fans either think twice before signing racist/sectarian/offensive songs knowing they risk their supporters clubs future ticket allocations or it encourages the members of the club to stamp this shit out for the same reason when they see it.

This is then verging on strict liability though, and risks punishing those who have done no wrong whatsoever.

For example, if a member of said supporters club never even attended the match, you think it is fair and reasonable that they would be punished for actions committed by someone else while not even in their presence?

Is it fair and reasonable for all fans of clubs to be banned from stadiums or games to be played behind closed doors by Uefa for sectarian/racists singing by some fans?

Possibly not but it still happens and it’s the same logic we should apply to supporters clubs.

We all either need to be part of a collective solution or we continue making excuses about it not being fair on x,y or z and giving it the air it needs to breathe and nothing changes.

A fan can always choose to align themselves with another supporters club who takes their responsibilities more seriously or indeed start one

Seems Rangers have taken the action you’ve suggested. The individuals have been banned from Ibrox and the Supporters Club have been banned from receiving future tickets.

Well done Rangers, genuinely think they have done the right thing to send a clear message. This standard has now been set so would expect all other clubs to do the same if instances occur.
