Police Scotland - a discussion thread 👮‍♂️

A bit rich for someone whose surname means "someone with crooked legs" to be asking others the origins of theirs.

That sort of sectarianism is rife in Scotland though. I remember the OP of this thread telling me a while ago that sectaranism wasn't a thing in Scotland. No doubt this w****r thought it was just a bit of banter, which is usually how it gets passed over. A certain former Scotland International said the same when asked to calm his behaviour during a now infamous Scotland camp.

Sectarianism is an undoubtedly a historic issue in Scottish society. It's one of many reasons why denominational schools should remain despite the faux-atheist mewling of many people in Scotland about 'segregated education'.

But the idea that sectarianism is in any way a serious issue in Scottish society any more is nonsense. It's frankly ridiculous to present sectarianism as an economically and politically significant issue, when we can observe and demonstrate the consequences of real inequalities and sectarian regimes around the world. There are zero effective barriers to Catholics in Scotland from attaining positions of power or influence - that's a testament to the success of a century of policy.

Yes, that's why I said "that sort of sectarianism", the kind that exists among colleagues or social circles rather than instituionally.

A kind of sectarianism that leads to... no tangible consequences? Well given the obvious atrocities and enormous war crimes being committed on a fairly regular basis at the moment, I can't help but think that seems a really weird social problem to highlight.

replace sectarianism with anti-Irish racism in your argument and it doesn't look quite as robust.

Given the litany of problems in the world at the moment, forgive me if I waste literally zero time or energy greeting about 'anti-Irish racism' that has no tangible consequences attached to it whatsoever.

Police officers ingested cocaine thrown by Aberdeen drug dealer - BBC News

...a block of compressed powder which burst, causing it to shower the officers' skin and clothing.

One officer had his nose and mouth covered by the drug before the Class A substance, which has been valued at £88,000, was seized.

He was said to have inhaled some of the powder through his nose and mouth and noticed that his lips, tongue and throat were tingly and started to go numb.

Three other responding officers also ingested the powder.

"Honestly, he just threw £88k of coke at us and it went up all 4 of our noses"

How will we ever solve this issue then in Scottish Society, if not starting with educating kids together?

Has educating kids together magically solved the problem of racism in Scottish or indeed any other society?
