When she was found she was similarly imprisoned on the loch to starve to death. The town took the black bitch as it's coat of arms and those born within the confines of the town are collequally known as 'black bitches'. Lovely people. Ancestors of people who starve dogs to death.
Wee-Bey
I don't know anyone from Linlithgow, but taking this as a free pass to call anyone from there 'a bitch' and they can't get mad. Everyone protesting at the town cross is a whiny bitch.

You should say that to a few people, then you will experience some real cancel culture. You should go to the heritage railway in Bo'ness, an excellent little attraction.

Done some work there a month or so ago. Quite liked Bo'ness (and the railway place) but the guy literally left at finishing time and locked us in. He knew we were there, he let us in half hour earlier. He wasn't too pleased when he had to come back out to let us out.

You could have had a turn at driving one of the steam trains.

Did get to play on the new lift though.

Nah, there was someone there matching that description. This was a young guy. Early twenties at most.
scottsdad
This story has been bobbing along for months. There was an interview with some marketing dude from Greene King talking about this and he made two points, only one of which i think is relevant. Firstly, they accept the name isn't racist due to its origins and the local story of the dog taking its master food. However "in these times" people might still get offended. Seemed contradictory. Second was that they tried to add the pub to their social media accounts and the likes and it kept getting filtered out due to bad language. This, I think, is the real issue.

Doesn’t it strike them as wrong that they think it’s great their ancestors starved a man and his dog to death “Yeah, let’s celebrate it on our coat of arms and name a pub after the dead dog”. Complete wrong uns
