Russian invasion of Ukraine

It is worth bearing in mind that the Russian forces will eventually break through and have success. They still have far more numbers and firepower. They seem to be having success advancing in the South of the country and there are reports of them making progress in the Donbas (remember that?).

I thought that the figures for Russian casualties that the Ukrainians were putting out must have been ridiculous overestimates for propaganda purposes, but now I wonder if they're actually pretty accurate.

Even if they do eventually win, the Russian forces seem to have been led pretty incompetently.

A lot of videos of Russian troops walking into the city without tank or armoured support. Seems strange tactics, Russian commanders have apparently decided to throw troops at the resistance.

Could be that they see armour as too vulnerable in high rise built up areas, a lesson from Grozny? And they can absorb the losses of light vehicles and men more easily than tanks and IFVs.  Maybe there's a propaganda angle here too, fewer shots of burnt out armour to share on twitter and infantry and jeeps looks much better than artillery followed by tanks.

CNN have a crew near the border there and it's columns of fighting vehicles heading into Ukraine so yip superior numbers will prevail but it's also a sign that its not as easy as first thought

"This failure is starkly illustrated by our attitude to Russian influence and corruption in the UK. The intelligence and security committee inquiry on Russia, whose open report the prime minister suppressed for nine months on an entirely bogus pretext, was presented with the clearest evidence that Russia saw no distinction between economic and state interests, and that it used elements of its diaspora in the UK to further its interests."

Q135 "WHO WAS THE THIRD BRITISH MONARCH FROM THE HOUSE OF PLANTAGENET?"

Q136 "HOW MANY CATHEDRALS ARE THERE IN THE COUNTY OF SHROPSHIRE?"

*sound of shells falling*

Is the answer to both questions who gives a f**k?

It's a shame the Tories never treated Russian business men with the same suspicion. We might not have them in the house of lords if they had.
