He hasn’t been seen since he made a video asking Wagner to stand down during their rebellion and is rumoured to be under house arrest. Also, Moscow has been hit by drones for the last six nights. First, breaking through entrenched defences without air superiority is hugely difficult, American expectations are probably influenced all their recent military history when it's been a given. Russia had most of the winter and spring to make the rapid Ukrainian advances last year to the east of Kharkiv near impossible. The idea that Ukraine should throw all their manpower at once across the minefields and artillery bombardments in a do or die effort to break through to the Azov probably comes from WW2 films like Patton. Secondly, if Europe especially but also America want to seriously give Ukraine a battlefield advantage they have to step up arms production to a level as if they were actually at war themselves, the stores are empty. ICTChris Posted August 23, 2023 Share Posted August 23, 2023 (edited) Ukraine appears to have captured a Russian mi-8 helicopter which landed at a Ukrainian airfield. Russian outlets claimed that the crew got lost but it seems increasingly likely that the pilot defected as part of a GUR (Ukrainian military intelligence) operation. Seems like the pilot landed without telling the crew, who were then killed when they tried to fight back. Crazy story.
