ICTChris
Lukashenko, in a recorded meeting with officials, says that Ukraine has advanced 30-35km into Russia, which seems a lot.
Wee Bully
1 hour ago, Newbornbairn said: Russian TV helpfully did a news report on the column heading towards Kursk, giving away location, time and direction. Estimated to have been a full company of men killed - about 200. There's drone footage of the actual strike. What's clear is the column wasn't spaced out like military columns usually are, they were tightly bunched leading to mass casualties. The troops were reportedly from the Leningrad Military District. Putin has avoided using troops from the West of Russia to avoid the bad PR of Russian boys coming home in body bags. This strike inside Russia itself will make Putin look weak. Apparently Ukraine have hacked the roadside CCTV cameras which is allowing them real time info on the troop movements. Genius if true.

coprolite
US warning Iran not to because they’ll be used on civilian infrastructure. Meanwhile Israel gets $3bn from the US to spend on weapons that they’ll promise to use on defence. we’ve always been at war with Eastasia.

ICTChris
Germany has issued an arrest warrant for a Ukrainian national in relation to the sabotage of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline. https://www.tagesschau.de/investigativ/ndr-wdr/nordstream-172.html The man is a diving instructor who previously lived in Poland but his current whereabouts are unknown. In other news, the governer of Belgorod has declared a state of emergency. Belgorod borders Kursk and has been subject to raids by pro-Ukrainian Russian forces in the past year. There are some reports that the area has been shelled by Ukraine during the most recent offensive. There were significant drone attacks from both sides last night. Ukraine has said that it shot down 17 of 23 Russian drones, with areas of Chernihiv and Mykolaiv hit. Russia has said that it shot down over 100 Ukrainian drones last night, although some Russian channels, including Fighterbomber a Telegram channel with links to the Russian air force, has said that three Russian air bases were hit. Once Ukrainian drones manage to penetrate into the Russian interior, the issue is that the bases don't have sufficient air defense systems to stop them hitting. Is it logistically possible to launch these raids into Russian territory, then when the big lad gets his socks and shoes on, simply f**k off and raid somewhere else along the border? I imagine it would take significant Russian resources to prevent that, which I guess is maybe the whole point?

I imagine it would take significant Russian resources to prevent that, which I guess is maybe the whole point? That's what the previous raids have been - Ukraine has used the Freedom of Russia group and other anti-Putin formations to attack over the border and then withdraw. It diverts resources both immediately to deal with the incursion and in the long run to prevent future attacks. What's happening in Kursk if very different though. There are tens of thousands of Ukrainian troops, some of their most highly trained soldiers working with air defence, air cover and heavy armour in Kursk now. There are reports that Ukraine is building defensive formations (trenches, tank traps etc) in the areas it has occupied suggesting they are going to stay there. What isn't known is the long term plan - will they withdraw, will they try to push forward more, will they dig in and keep this region to trade in future negotiations? It's an important point for Russian gas transit to Europe and this incursion also protects Ukrainian cities in the North from immediate threat.

Seems to me the most likely scenario is that NPower and EDF have formed a coalition and paid the Ukranians to hold gas to ransom, thereby allowing them to rip off hard working Brits this winter
