Glass was fucking rubbish and rightly sacked. All it would have taken for him to keep the job would have been to hang around in the top half and not get embarrassingly dumped out of four cup competitions in the early stages in less than a year. Even being the chairman's pal isn't going to help you survive that.

The Scottish Cup is becoming a bit of a millstone around Aberdeen necks.  Since they last won the trophy it's been won by Hearts three times, St Johnstone twice, Dundee Utd twice Hibs, Motherwell, Killie and The Caley once each.  Considering the buckets of cash spent by Aberdeen during that time period, higher than all of those teams except Hearts I'd imagine, it's a fairly embarrassing record.  They've also only made the final three times in that time period - Hearts have had six finals, Hibs and Dundee Utd five each.  Even Falkirk have managed three finals in the last 32 years.

Hopefully they appoint someone hilarious to try and get this record sorted.

You counting Dundee United last season?

2 UEFA competitions shirley?

We only got knocked out of one UEFA cup competition- we're not Celgers, who keep getting put into a competition until they actually win a game.

Knowing what we know now, it's amazing we had 6 games in the Conference League, despite the wailing and gnashing of teeth re Qarabag eliminating us.

Yes, that was in April I think?

Aye, but it was round 5, not that early.

On the other hand, we were at home, it was against Dundee United, and the display was abysmal.

Mind you, we kept up our record of not scoring against them.

Mad the amount of folk still somehow linking this back to sacking McInnes.

For those hard of thinking, this has already been said, but I'll say it again;

Sacking McInnes was the 100% right thing to do.

Hiring Glass as his replacement what the 100% wrong thing to do.

Who should Aberdeen have appointed when McInnes was bagged then? Who should have come in, replaced a long standing manager, and would have delivered what McInnes wasn’t, which resulted in him losing his job at Aberdeen. Who do you think would have come in and avoided the fate Glass has just suffered?

Accidentally double-quoted.

Recently? it is nearly a year ago Goodwin signed an extension. Alexander hasn't even completed a full season in charge yet.

And "every time a vacancy comes up"? Which ones in particular? Be specific.

Now you're just being pedantic.  Goodwin's deal runs to 2024 Alexander's until 2025.  Goodwin is being touted for this job but Alexander isn't.  You read the same threads and media as the rest of us, are you honestly saying the Goodwin doesn't get linked to nearly everything going? That other teams fans don't fancy him as a replacement for who they've got?

My point is that Alexander doesn't seem to get the same attention.  It could be because Goodwin is the flavour of the month but before the winter break our form was stinking and we went on an eleven game winless 'run'.  It could be because Alexander is seen as an outsider because his playing and coaching career was down south (apart from the national side).  It could even be that Alexander is seen as maintaining a Motherwell side whereas Goodwin is seen as improving a St Mirren side. It's clearly true that Goodwin loves an interview and seems to be liked by sports journalists.

All I'm saying is, last week we were ninth in the league and Motherwell were fourth.  We beat a rank rotten St Jonstone and go up to sixth.  Motherwell are still fourth.  So why is Goodwin a bookie's favourite and Alexander isn't?

This will become another of those canards along the lines of "the Dons were saved from relegation because Falkirk's stadium wasn't up to scratch".

Same reason as Jack Ross. A handsome basturt’ doing a good job at Scotland’s most attractive boutique club is bound to attract attention.

Next question. 😁
