The Big Queen's Park FC Thread

Fascinated to see Thomas O’Ware's name as the coach of Young QP in the Killie match report, and it seems there was a quiet announcement in the Reserve League preview this week: https://queensparkfc.co.uk/reserve-league-preview/.

Seems a bit if a weird fit given he's still a player for Kelty Hearts - I know not all the Young QP.players will be on full time deals, but I think some of the first team adjacent ones will be (?). But I also guess he's not a name Marijn Beuker would have arrived at at random, or on the lower league merry-go-round., so there must be thinking behind it. O’Ware says he's been doing coaching for 9 years or so, which is interesting.

That “Wealth Management” sponsor video btw 🤢

Just wondering how “community values” square up with a partnership where the sole aim of the company is to keep wealthy people as wealthy as possible, i.e avoiding paying their share for hospitals, schools etc. Ye know, all the things that everyone in the community uses?

In a recent interview, Marijn did mention that he would always stand between the dugouts listening to the opposition coaches, to build up his knowledge and network of local coaches. Perhaps, this is where the contact was made.

Calm down. Even those of us on less than the average wage would do well to have an IFA on hand.

Wonder if we’ll be signing a back up striker today. Last season we saw having an untested striker as your back-up didn’t work out great, so fingers crossed there’s someone coming in.

It doesn’t look like McKenna will be away this window, which will hopefully be positive for our performances and also his eventual transfer fee should he leave us hopefully not for a Bosman.

Tbf I’ve heard McKenna is contracted until 2025. Could be nonsense obviously but I’d imagine if he continues the way he’s going for the entirety of this season, we’ll get a considerably larger fee when he inevitably leaves

Can anyone enlighten me as to what Graeme Shields actual role is within the club also?

Great to see Veldman ‘sharing’ accolade with the backroom team and match-day staff, but I'm a bit confused as to what Shields impact on the First Team squad is.

Need 2 players I feel. A striker is an absolute necessity and someone to play in between the midfield and strikers. With Savoury out until March, the only other player that can fill that role is Jarrett who despite being a tidy wee player, never seems to take his chance when starting.

In an ideal world, I’d love to sign Connor smith again on loan. Seems to have kicked on further from last time around at us and can play that midfield, winger or even striker role if needs must.

Bizarrely, he has gone on loan to Scunthorpe who are currently playing in the 6th tier of English football.

He's better than that.

So what do we reckon to the new away kit? Got mine and quite chuffed with it.

Guessing we'll see it again today.  Got definite USSR 1988 vibes about it, (which ain't a bad thing);  It's not a bad kit and actually looks pretty good 'in the flesh' as it were, I reckon it's just a shame that expectations (given the club PR) were so high given it's an off the shelf effort.  Way, way better than the home.

Well QP were absolutely robbed today by the referee. Nothing much else to say other than can’t wait to see them play Raith again!

We were 1-0 down when the red card incident happened. We were 2-1 up when Robin Veldman started making absolutely mental substitutions. The defeat is on one man and it isn’t the ref.

I’m fairness, we were absolute jobby with eleven men. Incredibly harsh red card from initial viewing but will need to see again to the see gap between the attacker and covering defenders.

There’s been one man that’s cost us 6 points the last 2 weeks and it’s none of the players. The effort and application shown from the squad has been outstanding so far

Agree with that, they went defensive at half time and the 3 subs was a huge risk which didn’t pay off.

The ref was really really bad though the worst I’ve probably seen.
