I'd be very wary of putting too much faith in the loan market to plug holes in the squad, especially if we are going to be doing our business late. With the exception of Mal Boateng (one of the best players in the division), Joshua Scott (who looked excellent when he came in last season) and Connor Shields (not as good as the other two, but he did a job for us), the players we've brought in on loan over the past couple of seasons in the Championship have been at best ineffective/literally invisible and at worst pure garbage:

David Boateng
Josh McPake
Johnny Kenny
Ewan Henderson
Marcel Oakley
Barry Hepburn
Ben McPherson
Mackenzie Carse
James Crole

A bit harsh on McPherson. Thought he improved over the season but the others didn't quite live up to expectations.

Good to see some trialists but Thomson, Welsh and Wilson being nowhere to be seen is slightly concerning with the competitive stuff not far away.

...and Savoury, Tizzard, mcKinstry.

Hopefully just balancing injury risk and making room for the younger guys and trialists 🤞

Tbf, we're playing east Fife here, no real point putting out a standard first team. Celtic will be the test for what we think is our best 11 I reckon

Wilson, Welsh, savoury, tizzard and crew well be back in good time I'm sure

McGregor in on two year deal.

This could be a good signing for us. Loads of Caley fans sad to see him go (maybe because he's a local lad though). His dad runs a decent pub in 'sneckie too.

Late change to the starting XI with Trialist 1 starting and McCormick moving to the bench. C'mon P&B spies, we need to know who Trialist 1 is.

It's Josh Hinds.

I've been out of the house so not able to watch the ppv (or go to fife, for that matter), anything interesting going on? Any of the new boys looking interesting?

You are not missing much. We were tidy and dominant in the first half. Couple of half decent chances but not put away.

Wholesale changes at half time. Very scrappy second half with East Fife having the best chance of the game.

Second half was basically a Lowland League B team. Was pretty much exactly what I expected as a spectacle with what we currently have at our disposal.

Not a great spectacle. Only pre season I guess and it’s about getting sharpness in the legs for the league campaign.

Not much to get excited with but thought Mauchin looked the pick of the bunch. Think there’s a real chance he becomes a regular this season at right back

Desperately need more signings

First half QP shaded possession without creating anything. Trialist 16 for EF missed a one on one.

Second half EF dominant, Shepherd also denied by the keeper.

Of the three Championship sides we've faced, hate to say it, but Raith have looked the best. Dumfy poor, QP average.

Needs bearing in mind that second half was basically our B side with a number of trialists.

Wouldn’t be reading much into that.

Having said that no idea how strong a line up either Raith or Dunfermline stuck out against you.

Very similar approach. All played a strong side in the first half. We mixed things up a bit more in all three games.
