Striker Shortage

Absolutely, if you look at his scoring record before Rodgers came to celtic it was brilliant. There had to have been a reason he just didn't fancy him, and it must have been behind the scenes. Attitude and application.

Rodgers has proven to be a top coach and pragmatic, it seems unlikely to me he would sideline a guy with those stats without good cause.

Its a shame (for scotland) he's another in the long line of strikers who could have been our best guy, and it just didn't happen.

He signed Dembele then Edouard, both of whom were sold on for large profits

Thats why he was sidelined

Griffiths was never in that class. He wasn’t even good enough for Wolves in League One.

Well on that, Dembele came first and then Edouard the season after. Neither came close to matching the goal record of Griffiths the season prior to Dembeles arrival.

In 26 league games for wolves as a young player he scored 12 goals, I've not looked into how many of these matches he actually started.

Griffiths was a very good player, capable of playing at a higher level at his peak. Unfortunately his peak never lasted long enough.

If you disagree fair enough, but his stats at his best more than back him up.

It was 100% down to attitude and application

Even when he was banging in the goals for us, Delia was criticising him for his lack of fitness

Every manager he played under at Celtic criticised his fitness

The guy just wasn’t a professional

Natural talent can only take you so far

He was their top scorer when Celtic bought him.

He was on the bench when they sold him

That’s because his return of 9 goals in open play from 26 games in League One for the team at the top just wasn’t good enough

Hence why they got shot of him

You said he failed down south - and to a degree you're probably correct. He wasn't failing when he was sold - as has been pointed out he was their top scorer and they decided to cash in on that fact.

No mate he went to a better team at a higher level with a bigger budget. That's what happens when you're doing well.

They didn’t want to sell him, he had to put a transfer request in after bids were rejected.

Mildly excited that we seem to be on the verge of fast tracking 20 yr old Tommy Conway into the senior squad for the upcoming NL triple header. I know it's due to necessity, but it feels quite a progressive move, going for a promising youth as opposed to an older player "who can do a job".

I'll admit though that I don't know much about him or his style of play (Couldn't find a good compilation vid on YouTube either). Can anyone summarise?

P.S. Shankland must feel pretty low about being overlooked, even as a backup.
