die hard doonhamer
My views on artificial surfaces are well enough known. No, No and No!! Under no circumstances would I be in favour of this. The pitch we have is fine. Anyone who doesn't believe this only need go and check out some of the quagmires around the leagues. I fully understand and accept the monetary issue. Yes, we could let it out during the week, if handled properly wewould benefit financially from this. These pitches are fine for training on or coaching kids but senior football should be played on one surface and one surface only. Grass! Furthermore these pitches do not guarantee your game will go ahead? Case for: Alloa Athletic V QOS 8th December 2012. Game off. If their not now all weather pitches but only partial weather pitches then lets rip the lot up and put grass back down Plastic pitches at our level are the future. Our pitch is ok, but a plastic one would be better. The game against alloa was off when it shouldn't have been, but of course they will be affected by freezing tempratures. Plastic won't waterlog though, which is Brechins problem this season. I'm all for them putting plastic down, it makes sense on every level.
Hawk
We haven't lost a game to the elements all season. Yes it's been very soft a couple of times we've played on it but apart from East Fife the other week I don't think there are any better grass pitches in the league. Another summer working on it and I think it will be fine for next year. Hey I'm just an old traditionalist.

Sloop John B
I liked Ayr's pitch when we played there in January.
die hard doonhamer
I haven't been to Palmerston much this year, but judging by highlights the pitch isn't great. From the places I've been, East Fife have comfortably the best grass pitch in the division.

JRS LEFT PEG
I would rather have a grass pitch to any other surface but I am also a realist. Artificial surfaces are most likely the ONLY way our football teams in the lower leagues will survive . The weather aint going to get any better and the clubs will still be battling to get people through the gates . This is simply the way to go.

Everyone would rather have a perfect grass pitch than artificial but this costs £££ to upkeep and cannot be used every day if its to be fine for a game. They sure are the way I go.

JRS LEFT PEG
SD could well have not logged on since this came to light . On the other hand , he does know when to keep a low profile . When the board were getting pasted left , right and centre on here a while back he stayed strangely silent. Which of course is his right but curious all the same. die hard doonhamer
Spl, premiership European championships world cups ,Alan Johnston need any more.? Football should be on grass!! are they reasons? Plastic is better than the quality of grass pitch we can finance, that's a fact. Why is Allan Johnston a reason? His 'brand' of football (a horribly clichéd term) suits an artificial pitch perfectly.

die hard doonhamer
Sure he stated he prefers grass He (or it may have been sandy) stated he prefers a good grass pitch to plastic, but plastic over an average grass pitch. I don't think we have as particularly good grass pitch.
kirkyblue2
Doesn't help when both teams churn it up before kick off. On the topic of SD, he should make an alias, if he hasn't already done it, and say what he really thinks.
Cowden til i die
Spl, premiership European championships world cups ,Alan Johnston need any more.? Football should be on grass!! These pitches cost thousands of pounds a season to maintain. They require several full time members of staff, lots of expensive equipment. It still doesn't guarantee a good surface. Motherwell, Ross County, Aberdeen and Hibs have all had poor surfaces in the SPL in recent years. Fans, particularly SFL fans, that can't see the benefit of an artificial surface really worry me.

He normally has something to say on all queens topics that worries me,, Generally it means if no comment its TRUE we are hoping to go artificial It's a pernicious conspiracy! The prospect that the club are about to foist an artificial pitch on unsuspecting Queens fans with the collusion of a part-time unpaid volunteer is obviously proving too much for you. Oh and Diana wasn't carrying a Muslim foetus and her driver was drunk.
