It's good to see we've been able to successfully negotiate compensation with United who always seem to be a professionally run club. Their neighbours could do with taking a leaf out of their book. It is, but, as others have said, he wasnt at the club all that long and was right at the upper age limit for getting compensation. We took a chance on him but Durnan went straight into our first team. While hes improved as a player he didnt come through our youth system. Fowler has got it spot on signing up hungry young players liks higgins etc who hopefully in time will be just as good. Players like holt,reilly,mcshane etc didnt just become great overnight. La manga will be an excellent trip in top class facilities and a good chance for the new guys to settle in. Any money we get for out of contract players is a bonus as we have seen (danny) you get nowt for anyone over 23. The club is being run extremely well at the moment. Our acquisitions this close season have been marked by youthfulness and cost. Hewitson aiming for mid table.
