Here, there and everywhere it seems.

Chancelot Park in Bonnington, off Ferry Road - now Letham Park - that season:

Incidentally they took-over Edinburgh Civil Service's record halfway through 1923-24.

That's the Boys' Brigade in HJ's pictures above I believe.

They had a meeting hall near by (might still be there, not sure). One of the Edinburgh City team who beat Hibs in the Scottish Cup in the 1930s had a BB connection, as did the illustrator Tom Curr who did cartoons of football games in the evening paper:

Correct.

BBs still own Letham Park... Edinburgh HQ ('Pollock Pavilion') is adjacent @ 227 Ferry Road:

"I'm worried about one of the boys, Captain"

If that's 73 is that Sandi Toksvig?

Founder members mark league's 100 years with new Centenary Challenge

Celebrations for the East of Scotland League’s hundredth anniversary continued on Saturday, as both clubs which contested the inaugural league game met in a South Challenge Cup R1 tie at Home Park.

Coldstream and Vale of Leithen are the only sides from the 1923-24 campaign still playing in the league – ‘Streamers prevailed that opening season and have remained members for the entire century, while Vale won the following year then 3 more times in 1970s and 1980s. Before kickoff both teams were led out on the pitch to the skirls of Pipe Major Guthrie of Coldstream Pipe Band, before lining-up for a ceremonial photograph and handshakes to mark the historic occasion.

While the pair drew 1-1 at Victoria Park back in September 1923 to share the league’s first-ever points, there had to be a victor this time. Ultimately the Berwickshire hosts dispatched their Peeblesshire visitors 2-0 courtesy goals from Buster Briggs plus substitute Bailey Paterson, and will host Edinburgh United in R2.

As well as progressing in the South Challenge Cup, this handed them opening success in a new East of Scotland Centenary Challenge, the fine new trophy for which will be disputed in a preseason friendly between both in future years. Coldstream won the return league game 7-4 in December 1923, but Vale of Leithen will be eager for a better result next time.

This year's Centenary Challenge is Saturday 6th July at Innerleithen (3pm):
