And Trump says let the country unite? Some chance with him! Vance named himself as his own running mate? Sounds like something Dwight Schrute would come up with.

Theroadlesstravelled
I wonder why Trump bothers. If he hadn't decided to run again the horrible Dem rhetoric and lawsuits would have stopped a long time ago. He certainly wouldn't be a felon or been in a situation where he'd be shot.

Freedom Farter
BBC News: The above is exactly where Biden's strength lies. It's actually why Biden was initially selected as Obama's vice-president. To shore up these mostly white, mostly male, rust belt votes. Biden could yet be replaced, of course. I don't think Trump being shot will alter things to the extent some have predicted. Especially since indications are the culprit wasn't politically motivated. This selection of Vance could prove more pivotal.

Black_and_White_Stripes
I've never heard of Vance before now, so just had a look at his Wiki page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._D._Vance He seems to have had a rough childhood: Quote Vance was born on August 2, 1984, in Middletown, Ohio, to Donald Bowman (1959–2023) and Beverly (née Vance). They were a family of Scots-Irish descent.[14][15] Vance's mother and father divorced when Vance was a toddler. Shortly afterward, he was adopted by his mother's third husband.[16] Their childhood marked by poverty and abuse, and his mother being a drug addict,[17] Vance and his sister Lindsey were raised primarily by his grandparents, James and Bonnie (née Blanton) Vance, whom they called "Mamaw and Papaw."[14][18][19][20] J. D. later went by the name James Hamel, his stepfather's surname, until adopting his grandparents' surname, Vance.[21 Yet has done well for himself: Quote Born in Middletown, Ohio, Vance served in the Marine Corps before studying political science and philosophy at Ohio State University and earning a Juris Doctor from Yale Law School.[4] He came to prominence with his 2016 memoir, Hillbilly Elegy, which describes his upbringing in Middletown and his family's Appalachian values[clarification needed]. It became a New York Times bestseller and later a film, and attracted significant press attention during the 2016 United States presidential election.[5] He's a surprising choice for Trump: Quote Vance was originally a critic of Trump, writing a critical piece about him in 2016 in The Atlantic and referring to Trump in private correspondence as "America's Hitler."[6][7][8] Vance later became a supporter of Trump during his presidency.[9] Vance launched his first political campaign in 2021 to represent Ohio in the U.S. Senate. He won the Republican nomination with Trump's support and running against Democratic nominee Tim Ryan in the general election.
Theroadlesstravelled
I get JD Vance mixed up with the guy with the eye patch. There doesn't seem to be much difference between any of them tbh.

I suppose if Crenshaw wanted to take it up he’d get double the mileage out of a tube of mascara, at least. ETA - Christ, that’s a thing, between Vance’s guyliner and Trump’s pancake they’re going to look like a couple of old drag queens. Or a fat version of Francie & Josie.
