Greenmachine
Apparently the SPFL have voted through a change that requires clubs to have a bronze club license to be able to play in it.
Chris_the_rover
As it stands Cumbernauld Colts I believe are the only team in tier 5 who have this license
LongTimeLurker
That was already being talked about when the Conference plan was being pushed, so LL clubs were already aware they had some work to do on upgrading their grounds.

When was this, here’s the 22 Dec 2022 letter outlining the 2023-2024 requirements…which remain Bronze required for Tiers One and Two (with waivers possible), Entry at Tier Three and Four (again, waivers possible). https://spfl.co.uk/admin/filemanager/images/shares/pdfs/Membership Criteria Letter 2023-24.pdf

Edit: Found it… https://spfl.co.uk/news/spfl-board-elected-for-season-202324#:~:text=At the meeting clubs also,Scottish FA club licensing%3B and Kelty, Bonnyrigg, Airdrie, Peterhead and Cove all reported to be Entry Level right now, and the Cumbernauld Colts seem to be the only LL team with Bronze. It’s not a terribly tough standard to meet, as most is administrative. Bonnyrigg’s pitch may be an issue. TxRover
Looks like also FC Edinburgh are Entry Standard only… https://www.scottishfa.co.uk/media/10719/280623-club-licensing-awards.pdf The voted upon standard is SFA Bronze, and doesn’t say stadia only, unlike the 2023-2024 Criteria letter above.

Absolutely, I was mentioning Bonnyrigg for the slope because they are already in the SPFL. This looks to be a “payback” of some sort…will be interesting to see the votes, if they publish them.

Cover for 500 will be an issue for some LL clubs as well and given the SFA are currently reviewing licensing criteria things may wind up being tougher than the current set of standards..

Missed the unanimously, thanks. I doubt they’ll add any to the seat criteria after the fiasco caused by the 10,000 seater requirement. Any team (other than Queens Park) is quite likely to easily exceed that standard anyway, and they won’t want the optics of denying a team over not having seats that are never filled (at least at a League Two level).

Short version: A s**tload of paperwork from the Legal/Admin side, some stuff regarding the First Team, and the Stadia Criteria. The essential stadia stuff is 1:40 max grade, minimum 95m x 60m, required 300+ lux floodlights with limited variation, 500 covered places.

Think pitch is 59 m wide.
Dev
When do the changes come into effect? Is it the start of 2024/25? Surely any changes have to be brought into effect with min. 12 months notice from the relevant AGM? All such AGMs have long gone. That would mean new rules in time for the start of the 2025/26 season wouldn't it?
craigkillie
This was voted on at the recent SPFL AGM and passed unanimously. Therefore it will be in place from the start of the 2024/25 season. I don't know why you think it would require any more notice than that?

So if you mean from the start of the 2024/2025, does that then mean that a non-licensed team could be promoted this season, as the rules won't kick in till the start of next season?
