Overused as these phrases are, they've got truth. We were poor tonight, but we probably aren't as good as we were starting to think. They've had better individual talent but this is as cohesive as they've been in that time. The other major nations are at a low point if we are honest and they've been pushing for a trophy in the past number of tournaments now. They were just a penalty shoot out from winning the last Euros against the waning but still fucking brilliant defensive unit of Chiellino and Bonucci led Italians at the last Euros. If they're not the best team in the world right now, they are not far off it. Doesn't mean they'll win anything necessarily but equally doesn't mean they can't or shouldn't ever teach us a fucking lesson. The main disappointment was that we couldn't provide an attacking threat and get the fans onside but we were never, even for a second in that game and that's not a minter by any stretch. They could just pick their passes. The defenders were horribly exposed at times. That was obvious fairly early in the game.
