Mctominay is the absolute rob roy. He gets dogs abuse online off a sizeable portion of their fans and just keeps the head down and delivers. It's really admirable

He is spiderman and the section of the fanbase that's constantly angry at him are J Jonah Jameson.

A large portion of the United fans who slate him are 14 year olds from India. If his name was Ricardo Gomez and he had an 85 rating on fifa he wouldn’t get half as much stick.

Watching the SKY highlights of Villa and Man Utd was just a Scotland midfielder showreel.

If his team mates could shoot, and if his chance was on his left foot, McGinn would have had 2 assists and a goal. His decision making was superb last night.

Villa have released their own John McGinn best bits highlights from the game. His hold up play and dribbling looked strong. You forget he was playing against Man City. For Scotland he has been guilty of losing the ball in pretty bad areas so good to see him doing it well last night. He gave that young Norwegian player Oscar Bobb a hard time of it.

Nice assist for Patterson last night, playing a really similar pass to the one that almost played in Shankland towards the end of the Norway game.

He came on for Coleman who took a knock in the second half, but Garner's illness that Everton moved things about a bit with Young moving to a more advanced position on the right, so Patterson's game time could end up getting reduced if Coleman and Young are the two first-choice RBs.

All that aside, how did he perform in the 30 or so minutes he got?

Not involved all that much. From memory, he had one 1v1 to defend against Gordon which he did OK with but did fall on his arse at the end of it, and tbh I don't remember much else from his performance.

Couldn’t remember which thread the Gilmour discussion was the other day, but this adds a little to it.

This is great to hear. He's finally playing every week for a good side whose fans don't despise him, so it's no wonder that De Zerbi's seeing a difference in him. I'm sure he'll have plenty more bumps in the road this season - as seems to be typical of his career so far - but it's quite a difference compared to where he was a year ago, or even back in March/April.
