Dundee FC vs St Johnstone - 02/01/2024

Recommended Posts

Aye Dundee are favourites for this. Feels like our initial "bounce" after Levein came in is wearing off and the last few performances feel like we're just going through the motions waiting for the transfer window.

Robinson away back to Wigan so you can almost predict our defence. McGowan, Gordon, Considine and Gallacher, plus whatever RWB he picks. Hopefully Franczak.

Then Phillips/Smith/Carey in midfield, then Clark up front.

Then pick one from Kucheriavyi, Kane or May.

You do realise a good chunk of the players at Livi were battling illness. Think we can give them a pass for the performance and result.

Bar the opening 25/30 mins at Killie, we competed really well and probably should have got something.

Then I felt we were very comfortable against Hibs.

A bit of a take to say we have lost our bounce.

Dundee A will be a tough match for us, they seem to be a well drilled side with quite a few options in midfield and up top.

Wonder if CL will unleash his new forward alongside Clark ......

Boring, drab and dreary Levein rocks up looking for a shitfest, with the dreary, boring support, thinking their attending a 'Derby'.

Time for payback here Dundee.

Demolish these tedious yokels.

Thank you.

First time in god knows when we go into this game as favourites. And we know how we usually perform in that situ.

That said there's a different mentality to this Dundee side. Hopefully Lamie is fit and we can drop Donnelly, Tiffoney would drop out too to be replaced by Cameron, Reilly or even Rudden. Howley to go out as well with  maybe Cammy coming in but I still fancy Mulligan at RWB allowing us to play Boateng next to Sylla for a really solid midfield pair.

James Brown (whoever the f**k he is) to have 2 new knees fitted after the game having snapped all his ligaments trying to keep up with Becks jinking runs.

It's ok lads, James Brown will definitely sort Owen Beck out.

Says everything I've got far more confidence in a 16yo with 2 senior appearances facing Beck than Brown, as at least Franczak might pose some form of threat to push Beck back 5 yards.

Against Brown he'll be able to play like an out and out left winger.

Dundee in far better form and the better side for the first time in a long while.

It doesn’t stop them continuing to be a tinpot wee outfit off the park though. Still unable to offer online ticket sales, thus reducing the opportunity for Saints fans who decide to go over the last few days. As pointed out, even some junior clubs are managing to do this now.

1-1. Saints in the lead, with Shaughnessy equalising in the 99th minute.

No? He has 5 yellow cards over the league campaign, so if he got carded in this he'd be suspended for a league game. But as he avoided a yellow against Killie, he's fine for this.

I think it also resets after the St Johnstone game, or the threshold goes up, as we’ll have played 19? Unless it takes into account the postponed games in some way (not sure).

Notice how it's the Dundee fans talking about the the Saints fans calling it a Derby again? All I ever see is Dundee fans mentioning it.

Why was your first though the St Johnstone fans? 🤔

As for the game. It'll be the usual. We'll score and then they'll end up sitting back for 30-40 mins trying to hold on, which won't work.
