I see the pitch forks are already being sharpened because it's getting played on astro. Completely ignoring the fact it's one of the best playing surfaces in the country

Don't think anything to do wi the pitch.

Venue is hardly in the middle of Sauchie/Haddington travel wise?

Started to reply to Spyro, but NB captured the reason why Hihi supporters are not happy with venue.

I agree, the location isn't great for Haddington... but that wasn't the complaint I had read before posting. It was the usual gurn about it being played on astro.

I’m old brigade, as you know. I’d much rather watch football on grass as opposed to Astro. Haddington U20s pitch was re-laid Sep-Oct 23, so one of the newest in the Development league set-up. However, on two occasions this season, when we played at Millfield (Stirling Albion & Dundonald); these were probably most enjoyable U20s matches I saw all season.

Funnily enough, of the negative comments I’ve seen, from Haddington supporters, the only negative one about the surface, is mine! Negativity from the rest relates to the venue; 13 miles from Sauchie & 54 miles from Haddington.

It is what it is though and I look forward to the cup final immensely.

Not the best for neutrals either.

Dunno, I was literally in the middle of typing (before the bairn distracted me) that's it's a bit more convenient for me and I might take a donder up if work permits... But yes, it's a pain in the arse to get to from the east

Just jump on the motorway and it's just as u come off. No different when we have to go to Edinburgh every second week sitting on the bypass

I'm about 20 minutes drive, but I'd have hoped for somewhere on a train line to make a day/night of it.

You do talk p1sh at times - this is one.

Newtongrange is on the bypass. Looking at the teams in your league for 23-24, Camelon probably travelled less to away games than Nitten

Swap Nitten with Leith and there can’t be much difference between the two of you.

Sauchie = 13 mins to Dunipace; Haddington 54 miles.

How would we have. We only had dunipace close by. Whitburn and Blackburn are still about 15 miles from camelon.

Newtongrange and arniston are less than 2 miles apart amongst others.

The rest were 40 mins or more of travel

You'd think you had to walk it.

My point Is people trying to say dunipace is hard to get too when it's just off a motorway and as I said is no different to us going to newtongrange

I know, I was one who criticised it. My point was I can do it in 20 minutes in the car, but it'll mean giving up my afternoon in the pub and it might be ok getting there on public transport, getting back is a trail.

I doubt I'm the only one who'd like to step on a train and be delivered to the venue town, particularly on a Friday night.

Not many places you can get a direct train to in our league. Maybe with a change.

Who from the EoSFL is making these decisions, regarding venues for finals ???

As bad as the SPFL admitting LL sides into the Challenge Cup who finished nowhere near the top of their league !!

Dunipace v Bo'ness Athletic last season was held at Meggettland.

Exactly what I was thinking. I think realistically the options for a venue become restricted once u hit late may/June. Our parks getting another drain put in so is dug up. I'm sure others have started their preparations for next season

A lot of places will be working on parks for next season now. So parks have to be available it's not just someone going we will hold the game their.
