I was about to say the very same thing having seen the results. A 1-4 win no less. Admittedly, Edinburgh Community are a middling Third Division side. Hopefully they can address the slide and be more competitive next season in the Second. Tweedmouth and Hawick have been able to shake off the cricket score label the past couple of seasons.

Lower-levellers put up terrific fights!

... and they did again yesterday most notably with Fauldhouse and Dalkeith taking Whitehill and Lochore to extra time; West Calder going down by an odd goal in 7 at Hill of Beath; and Peebles running Arniston close. However in the end it was a fairly disastrous weekend for Second & Third division sides, with only 6 of them reaching Last 32... and of those Bathgate had a bye in whilst Edinburgh Utd, Thornton, Harthill and Livingston Utd/Hawick were the product of all-tier 8+9 encounters. Bo'ness Athletic alone managed to beat a higher-level opponent and that took them ET against Oakley.

So after its opening round the cup has been reduced to largely a Premier & First division affair:

Second Round
Premier (12)     Broxburn, Crossgates, Dunbar/Inverkeithing, Glenrothes, Haddington, Hill of Beath, Hutchison Vale, Jeanfield, Kinnoull, Musselburgh, Sauchie, Tynecastle
First (14)             Arniston, Blackburn, Camelon, Dunipace, Heriot-Watt Uni, Kirkcaldy & Dysart, Leith, Lochore, Newtongrange, Preston, St Andrews, Vale of Leithen, Whitburn, Whitehill
Second (3)          Bo'ness Athletic, Edinburgh Utd, Thornton
Third (3)               Bathgate, Harthill, Livingston Utd/Hawick

It’s not set in stone but given that Lochore don’t have lights it can’t be a midweek game so the 20th makes sense.

The clocks go forward tonight. Might be able to get a 6.30 kick off in midweek in a couple of weeks although 20th makes sense as you say.

A 6.30pm kickoff wouldn’t allow for extra time and penalties Tam.
