Aberdeen v Ross County (Sat, 30th March)

Recommended Posts

Who was the lad that tried to clear the ball off the line for Aberdeen’s 1st goal?

Had he just been introduced to a football that morning? 😆

Personally, I hope County avoid the play off though. And, I suspect they will, they were the better team in the 1st half truth be told.

1) Dingwall is a good away trip

2) Aberdeen invariably win

3) It means there’s a chance St Johnstone can join Livingston in being relegated.

Loick Ayina 20 year old Congolese lad on loan from Huddersfield Town, brought in by Derek Adams as our squad wasn’t good enough. Safe to say he’s pretty raw.

Rustico 7/10

Wild Ginger 8/10

Football 3/10

We've certainly performed worse at Pittodrie but it was all too predictable in the 2nd half. Passed it about pretty well in 1st without creating much.

We got worse with every sub, Sims for White, Dhanda and Randall for Sheaf and Khela 🤷🏻

Not sure what to make of Efete in that position, looked classy one minute and a fish out of water the next.

Good to see Duk looking lively when he came on. Dante also an improvement. Second goal was a decent footballing move.

2nd goal is an example of what we’ve missed so much of from Duk this season (partly his form and partly the lack of any creative width in the squad).

Don’t think anyone else picks the ball up with back to goal and rolls the defender so we’re actually in behind a defence.

He also wants to get to the byline every time. The other wide players want to cut back on to their strong foot as soon as they get near the box.

Was a bit baffled by the subs…

Aberdeen have a far better team than Ross County, end of. Just shows how poorly things have been run that they are such a small margin apart in the league.
And how low the confidence is that it was only a close 2-1 victory and far from dominating performance.

Leven made the correct subs, although he took far too long to make them. Hoillet was mainly a passenger and the midfield needed stiffening up. Can’t play Barron and Clarkson in the same team unless in complete control of possession, and Clarkson is capable of more on the ball so it’s quite simple, Barron had to go.
No surprise to gain the ascendency once Polvara and Duk on. Finally a bit of a threat from the wide positions. The changes should have been made at half time. Could have been 2-1 down before the subs came on. Indecision could have been costly but we got away with it this time.
Simon Murray is the prime example of how far you can go based on sheer effort alone, a really poor footballer for this level. Fair play to him getting a few goals this season.

Agree with most of what has been said.

Leven has eeked out a couple of wins from what probably should have been draws on the balance of play/chances - and Dens Park remains the only blot on his copybook from the four games he's taken the team for.

Not out of the woods yet, but for now he's probably removed any sense of urgency in making a panic appointment.

Not sure from the one glimpse on Sportscene whether that complete sitter County missed later in the first half was offside. That period was a real concern, as Mackenzie in particular had gone into full quivering lip mode, and the midfield were being overrun.

White coming on in the second half did worry me, as Gartenmann and Jensen have struggled with route one target man jobbers all seasons, but strangely that alteration seemed to work against County, who fell out of things a bit in the second half. It did, however, need the substitutes to make a difference for us.  Hopefully Leven can start getting more out of Duk, and Dante played very well - and possibly could be playing his way into a start at Hampden.

Looked clearly offside in my view from the County end.
