🔴🟡PTFC vs ICT🔵🔴 - 30th March 2024

Recommended Posts

After back to back wins and a long overdue cleansheet, I am feeling more confident for this one than before.
The previous three meetings between the sides this season have all been bad games of football, so I’m hopeful this does not follow suit.

One for @The Thistle Archive

If this game ends in a draw then all 4 games this season between the teams will have been draws.

when was the last time we drew all 4 league games across a season with one team? I thought we did it with Killie a few years back but that was in the top 6 season so we only played (and drew with) them 3 times.

As for this game, with back to back trips to Fife after this a win would give us some valuable breathing space, certainly not home and hosed for the playoffs yet.

Feels like a reasonable chance of this happening.

Another 3/3 came against Alloa in 19/20 (all the same score as well), and were actually due to play them for the 4th time right before lockdown happened. I don’t think a 4th 1-1 would have surprised anyone if that game did go ahead.

And an example of ‘nearly but not quite answering the question’ is that we drew 5 times in a row with Falkirk across 18/19 and 20/21.

Honours even so far this season against  Duncan's Donuts....think we'll shade it this time with BBG scoring just to add to the Heilan seethe.

This is a must win for us, no chance we are going to draw our way out of 9th place and into safety. After 3 draws in this fixture it stands to reason that this one will end in a win for someone. If this was up in Inverness I would be less confident. As I mentioned before we have traditionally gone on a late season runs of wins, with only 8 games left is a case of soon, when? or never.

6 games left unless of course you are factoring in finishing 9th and then losing in the playoff semis.

Going into playoffs when you can't score enough goals is not going to end well. Never ends well. At the moment it might be Montrose who we could be up against. When you have people telling you about the lower standard this season of teams in the playoff places in L1, that does not bode well for us, I don't believe them. Even if we get past Montrose we will certainly get pumped by Accies who seem to beat us regardless how rank they are at the time.

So we need to win, a draw is no use.

We are in the position now where we are starting to look at the other teams results to go our way. Not good.

A BG own goal in the first 10 minutes, shut up shop, park that bus and ugleee anti football all the way and some dodgy ref decisions helping us to the final whistle and the liberation of all three points heading up the road.

I really don’t think this is the case. You’ve got six games left, and only 2 of them (this one and at home to Raith) are against teams who aren’t also currently in the relegation scrap.

Those other four games are significantly more important for you guys.

Its going to be every game is going to be significantly more important than the last one. We could go into the game at Firhill four points adrift if Ayr keep up their bogey this season over Airdrie.

Crazy that we have only lost one out of our last seven league games and sit in 9th. Far too many draws (5 out of last 7 ).

Partick's home form isn't that bad only a point away from Raith and Dundee Utd. I'd imagine the bad run is over and its all about securing 3rd.

Caley don't loose away from home often this season, but equally rarely it seems do we actually win games of football. Fully expect another draw and spinning the unbeaten in 2 tough away games against top 3 clubs is solid return.

Yip, so rest your best players for this one, keep them for more important games 👍

That's settled it then. I want a record breaking draw. If we get a last minute winner I'll be booing louder than that time Brian Cassidy sent off three players in a match v QoS.

McInroy out for tomorrow with a knock and neither Bannigan or O'Reilly back yet, so would assume Stanway in for McInroy the only change from last week unless there are other injuries we don't know about.
