If relegated teams are getting £1M from Eufa is there any need for the parachute payments?
Rovers_Lad
Exactly Think the payment previous season from UEFA was 650k,this season 900k
RAITHROVERS84
Would imagine Livi will gamble on trying to go right back up. Hope they crash, stumble, incinerate and die. Going with the theme of attendances they’re a league 1 club which is where they’ll end up eventually.
AllanJM
There's no doubt that the improvement on the pitch has contributed to our increased crowds this season. However, the improvement off the park is a much bigger factor. Even at the start of the season, when we had no real expectations for a title challenge, we were getting around 3,000 which was a massive improvement on our average for last season. By the end of the season we were getting around 3,500 for most games (Pars and United games are responsible for the average being over 4,000 - I think the Morton game with reduced prices was the only other one over 4k) which would be down to the improvement on the pitch. Obviously, letting u12's in for free really helps this and there does seem to be more kids in the stadium this season. If even half of those that only attend because it's free keep coming long term, it could be great for the future of the club. Next season, I expect the average to be higher again regardless of what league we're in. The championship will be a hell of a league with at least half of the teams fancying their chances of winning it. This should lead to higher crowds all round. Obviously, if we go up we'll get the benefit of big travelling supports from most teams (other than County which is understandable) and quite a few selling it out completely.

Always thought we had a decent shout at the play-off but I don't think many (if any) Rovers fans thought we'd take United on for as long as we did at the start of the season.

One of the main reasons we went down this season as cutting budgets to avoid running at a loss, we wont run at a loss again next season. One of the reasons we'll have a bit more of a budget is the parachute payments available to us and the European payments we'll get which are usually paid for the season previous, I think each Premiership club gets about 1m. -

Seems to be a way that 'hard up' clubs can make a substantial bit of cash. Could be more lucrative to some to finish 12th rather than 10th!

I'd doubt that, you're losing out on future European solidarity payments of 1m+ and more footfall in the stadium, for us that's 8k away fans a few times a season.
ATLIS
To add to that when we came back up from winning League 1 into the Championship we had the second smallest budget in the league and finished 2nd. We don't tend to be pissing money against the wall anymore.

Hit the nail on the head I also think certain fans are jealous of clubs like ICT, Livi, St Johnstone, County etc cause despite their small attendances they've actually had success in the last 10-20 years.

Attitudes like yours are one of the reasons Raith are becoming seriously unlikeable.

moses1924
Happy enough with 1800, a good platform to build on and hopefully get up over the 2000 mark if we can establish ourselves in the championship.
