Re inevitable handwringing over the mess etc at Merchant City - for a week Glasgow City Council et al have known this would happen. Plenty time to organise portaloo's, bins etc - even a proper fanzone. Didn't stay long or see any trouble yesterday but not surprised there was some. Just not likely to get that many predominantly young, drunk OLD FIRM FANS in one place without a bit of bother.

Fixed it for you.

There will be tens of thousands of Scottish football fans in Germany next month.  Most will be drunk at some (or all) points.

You won’t see anything like Manchester or the recent Glasgow title celebrations.

Great day. Agree that there should have been injury time but no idea how the lack of it has been construed as St Mirren being cheated. Celtic were on the attack when the whistle was blown and at no point did St Mirren have us on the ropes. Anyway, good game and fantastic occasion, atmosphere was brilliant and you could see how much the players appreciated it.

Organising a proper fanzone in advance is an entirely sensible suggestion. Portaloos, bins, some vans selling scran. Glasgow Green for one cheek, Bellahouston Park for the other cheek. Good suggestion. Like T in the Park, without the good bits. Cs in the Park. 😜

Your idea is a good one though. Too sensible?

Edit: Obviously, as others have suggested, funded by Celtic FC, but organised jointly with Glasgow City Council.

The sheer arrogance and entitlement of the Old Firm amply demonstrated there. Did you notice that underdogs Hearts equalised five minutes into added time yesterday, against the odds, when playing your ugly sister? Yet you and the referee are sufficiently psychic to know that St Mirren wouldn't have scored if a realistic amount of added time had been applied? More importantly, it was perfectly acceptable for them to be deprived of the opportunity by a cheating referee, and St Mirren shouldn't feel aggrieved in any way?

Remind me, how many points did celtic pick up by scoring goals after 90 minutes this season?

It never used to happen before Rangers did it in 2021.

It's now become a big performance to prove they are bigger and better than each other

Yeah, it's quite sad really, it's more driven by aggression and anger, the need to shove it down people's throats, there is no real joy.

Unknown football teams fans cause mayhem.

Chelsea fans surely?

Despite Bennetts valiant yet quite hilarious efforts to find any bit of negativity about yesterday and post it  on here I would tend to agree with others that it shouldn't really be going on every year. How they go about it I don't know as the police basically allowed absolute carnage at George Square when lockdown was supposed to be on. I went one year and it wasn't for me tbh, seems to just be the young team that embrace it more now. Fan zones would make the most amount of sense but then there would be arguments over footing the cost etc.

There should be no argument about who foots the cost. It should be funded from your Champions League riches. How much would it cost to have portaloos in a designated ‘gather here to act the joe kunt you kunts’ part of Glasgow Green? All the burger vans that already congregate around Celtic Park on matchdays - just get them down there. All you’d need would be vans selling bevvy and some big rubbish bins. Shouldn’t be too difficult.

I would agree but our board purely see us as cash cows. They don't even run hot water in the sinks of the toilets these days, they have little care for us in the stadium let alone away from it.

In The Netherlands local authorities erect these urinal rockets in places of major gatherings such as Leidesplein and Rembrandtplein in Amsterdam.

Would it be so hard for GCC to put up a dozen of these plus some portaloos for the ladies?

It’s Rangers fans fault, of course.

Your BoD should be getting told by Glasgow City Council to pretty much ‘get this fcuking sorted’. Let’s be clear - there’s only two clubs in Scotland going to win the title, and they’re both from Glasgow. Over recent years, winning the title has seen the ‘celebrations’ descend into nothing more than an excuse to get bevvied, trash the city centre / Trongate, and lay claim to Glasgow being green, or blue.

Obviously, the primary blame lies squarely at the door of both clubs’ cunto element, but Glasgow City Council and the Scottish Police KNOW this cuntery is about to take place. It’s no use them acting all surprised / disgusted / dismayed when it happens, and they bemoan the broken bus shelters, lamp posts, road signs, street furniture, and the vandalism / litter / disorder / urinating in the streets.

Sit down and get it controlled, or at least better controlled than this bollocks happening every year. Christ, Glasgow can host big open air concert stuff at Glasgow Green, the city council, the polis, and the title winning club should be able to put into place some sort of ‘fanzone’ affair, surely?

This is easier said than done, legally I don't know exactly what the council can do, they probably don't know either. Glasgow green makes sense but comparing it to Transmt isn't quite the same I would imagine they company pay a fortune to hire the place and the support staff and charge punters a fortune for it.

Hopefully the experience of how the Germans run large football crowds this summer might show the way forward to some that are in power.

Let's be clear the council are not to blame for any of this.

Celtic need to get their house in order. Fans celebrating should not be causing such a mess.

The council has to hand the bill to Celtic and ask them to cough up. Why should they have to foot the bill for mindless morons

It's the cooncil's fault for not putting up urinals that would only get trashed anyway? The polis are to blame when blootered australopithecine bigots can't control their toxic impulses? The evil twins are united in the seamy fantasy world they inhabit

Bumcheek celebrations and the cleaning and fumigation afterwards should be paid for by the bumcheek partners or their supporter organisations and no one else.
