Playing in the EPL alone isn't any real barometer of quality, especially when it's considerably easier to do so as a Scotsman than for players of most other nationalities. We've some decent players but that's all they are. There's an enormous gulf in class between our best and their best, and that told on the pitch. Granted, we should have performed much better but the reality is that our squad is severely lacking in genuine quality. I get what you’re on about and I got a few people earlier quoting me but I was in the pub. You’re saying we have current EPL players and ex-EPL players, however the Germany lads are mostly current Champions League players. Very little of our players get anywhere near the Germany team. The game was always Hearts, Killie or St Mirren away to one of the Old firm. If we weren't on it (and we weren't) and they were (which they were) then there's always the risk it will go this way. That's the bottom line. We had to be close to 10/10 and they had to be 6/10 for us to realistically get something from tonight. It played out in the worst way. It's not always about tactics or decision making, sometimes it's just about who has the better players and who is able to perform on the night and that's what it was about for me. Why we didn't I don't have a clue, but Germany were on it so it would always have been difficult to get anything tonight unfortunately. Notably the Dutch, who have bravely managed to overcome the dreadful burden of some song lyrics about Spain to reach three World Cup finals and win the Euros. Oh, and be one of the most equal, wealthiest and healthiest societies in the world. The American anthem is about their war of independence with England, same as ours. They seem to have done alright in a few things, sporting and otherwise.
