patriot1
I don’t know about banning EOS clubs from taking part in the junior cup but they should certainly be prohibiting clubs from dropping out of EOS competitions in order to take part. For the Swifts to give up on the Alex Jack Cup is out of order. They talk about wanting to play in a National competition. Well the Alex Jack provides a potential place in the biggest national cup there is. I’m all in favour of a national cup competition from tier 5 down and was disappointed when the Highland and Lowland teams voted against it. But if one was to go ahead the SJFA should be nowhere near it.
craigkillie
Isn't the Alex Jack an optional competition?

Otherwise as a non-SFA member of the EoSFA or qualifier for that season's Scottish Cup you participate.

craigkillie
They weren't in the Alex Jack cup, they had a choice between it and something else and picked the other one.

Clubs don’t enter EOS competitions, they are automatically included in all competitions for which they are eligible. All the EOS sides who took part in the Junior Cup last season also played in the Alex Jack Cup with the exception of Camelon who were not eligible for it. Inverkeithing could have played in both competitions. They have pulled out of the Alex Jack. If they hadn’t specifically said that they were not taking part in it they would have been in the draw.
perthmo
I'm not actually convinced that Swifts did make a choice. They may well have failed to realise that entering the Junior Cup meant they couldn't play in the Alex Jack Cup as well.
Jordi1977
Inverkeithing must be one of the highest ranked teams eligible for the Alex Jack Cup... and therefore would be one of the favourites to win it and have a good shot at qualifying for the Scottish Cup. Punting it for the SJFA Cup is just gonna take away that chance of Scottish Cup - unless they get some lucky draws, have the run of their lives and can actually accommodate the fixtures in their schedule!
Jordi1977
And surely Sauchie and Dunipace saw how it went for Camelon last season... What about that made them both sit up to say "oooh fancy a bit of that"

This is incorrect Armadale who are eligible for participation in the Arthur Jack Cup chose to play in the Scottish Junior Cup. Both these competitions are a pathway for qualification to the Scottish Cup and clubs are only allowed to play in in one of these competitions. I note That Bo’ness United and Sauchie have also entered the Scottish Juinor Cup

FairWeatherFan
With the AJC numbers out this appears to be the list of Junior Cup participants for the season ahead: Bo'ness Athletic might be an x-factor as with them in the Scottish Cup as a qualifier, maybe they chose to guest in the Junior Cup? Non-SFA Armadale Thistle Bathgate Thistle Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts Livingston United Pumpherston Stoneyburn West Calder United SFA Camelon Dunipace Sauchie Juniors Edited June 27 by FairWeatherFan

That's the risk of the draw. I doubt anyone will be complaining about that if we have a good run.
FairWeatherFan
First games of the King Cup this season were in November. Still had 1st Round games in February. Not sure how missing out on the King Cup frees up dates. Its the Scottish, SCC, Qualifying that will cause the clashes.

I thought football had moved on?

Didn't you drop the term "Juniors" from your name upon joining the EoS to reflect your move to senior football, and now this?

There is still way too much division, bias and hatred for the Juniors and Junior Cup from some on here it's mental. Just all get your heads together and arrange a proper Scottish Junior Cup / SFA Trophy for the Scottish non league teams from tier 5 down instead of being stuck in your anti Junior / pro Junior positions. Is it really too much to ask?

What about that made them both sit up to say "oooh fancy a bit of that" Well Camelon were the only team in their division in the Junior Cup last season and couldn't be accommodated in the EOS fixtures so had to forfeit... But what I expect will happen is that Sauchie v Dunipace and Camelon v Inverkeithing will be scheduled on 21st September in the league. Then after that (unless the reverse is done for round 3 on 19th October) the following round will likely come up against a EOS league fixture and result in a Junior Cup forfeit, unless they can move it to midweek or something. Or they may get lucky and have a date available due to it being a cup weekend in the fixture list. The other consideration is what happens when there's a Junior Cup tie postponement - half the last 32 fixtures were delayed a week and only one last 16 game was played on the main date in December, not so easy to sort when it involves an EOS club. Just need to wait and see what happens in a week or so when the fixtures come out out and draws are made...
