senorsoupe
It stars tonight and we are in it! We play in the opener against Argentina, it's half time and we aren't losing, so that's positive

Melanius Mullarkey
CONMEBOL. What a name. Even worse that CONCACAF. Cup of Concacaf please.
NorthernLights
How do they decide on the scheduling of the tournament? Looking at the history they play it from anywhere from every 8 years (1967 - 1975) to having two editions in the same year (1959) and this century it seems almost random. A combined American tournament seems like a good idea on paper. The Gold Cup has only seen 1 winner outside of Mexico/USA in the 17 times it been done and CONMEBOL love getting Mexico/USA involved for the $$$ anyway.
vikingTON
Any highlights package being put together for this and available in the UK? The timing is not ideal, at least while both this and the Euros are in group stages. Would like to see Uruguay under new management entertain and do well - hopefully they've retained some of their dirty b*****d cynicism too.

Supposed to be every 4yrs; but for reasons (greed) they staged a "Centenary" edition in 2016, just 1yr after the previous edition in 2015... then came 2019... then they decided to move to same year as Euros (instead of year before) and conveniently decided to do this by having another edition in 2020, except a world crisis ended-up delaying it until 2021... and now we're back ontrack this year. So there have been 5 tournaments during a period which should only have had 3 by rights. Except for 2021 they have invited guests to every tournament since 1993... usually 2 guests but 6 in 2016 and again this year.
Theroadlesstravelled
The average ticket price for the Copa America is $200 and the upcoming Argentina-Chile group game is at the $500 mark. There are noticeably a number of empty seats. The football associations are using it as a cash grab which is concerning for the World Cup in 2026.

It is like 40 degrees and I suspect Canada v Peru isn't top billing in Kansas City Peru are an absolute gang though, should be down to 9 men

senorsoupe
We were outplayed in the first half but much better in the second. Jacob Shaffelburg was a massive upgrade on Liam Millar (the guy who used to play for Kilmarnock) and Kamal Miller replaced the extremely ropey Derek Cornelius. We still have work to do but I'm liking what I am seeing from Jesse Marsch's Canada so far

Groundhopping Adventures
Venezuela being 2 from 2 is a brilliant return for them. The only Conmebol team to never qualify for the world cup etc. I'm sure someone who knows far more about South American football than me will tell me they should be winning the thing
RossBFaeDundee
This USA-Panama game has been cracking, crazy first half with Tim Weah getting sent off for blatantly punching his opponent in the head, Balogun with a scorcher and an immediate Panamanian equaliser, and tons of cards. 2nd half has been a slower burn, but a tremendous effort and assist from Abdiel Ayarza creates a late lead for Panama, and straight after they too go down to 10 men when Carrasquilla literally just boots Pulisic as hard as he can. The Euros wish they were this entertaining Edited June 27 by RossBFaeDundee

Theroadlesstravelled
Uruguay looked absolutely top tier tonight. They'll take some stopping. They also had two MLS players out there which is interesting.
senorsoupe
This game between Canada and Chile is on the verge of boiling over. Chile already down to 10 but there is a lot of needle between the two sides. We were lucky to still have 11 men on the pitch as apparently elbowing an opponent in the face is not a red card offence Edited June 30 by senorsoupe
