Qualifying for the World Cup (even with the upcoming expansion) should be considered equivalent to making it to the last 16 at the Euros. We narrowly missed out on the last World Cup as a beaten playoff semi finalist which is further evidence that we are in the 17-24 band of European sides (back to back euros group stage exits and finishing 2nd and 1st respectively in league B groups also suggests this).
