I agree with most of that, particularly about Starmer, but I think there are still many ordinary Labour Party members who are left of centre.  Particularly in England where there is no perceived practical alternative.

I am just astounded that there is not more push back from these people. Probably being morally blackmailed into keeping quiet so not to “help the Tories”.  As a result Starmer is moving Labour further and further to the right.

No idea why anyone left of centre would choose to affiliate themselves with Labout any longer. Thay haven't been a party that represents such people for a long time.

Labour have to be stealthy to get elected. They have to make people believe they are a competent government in waiting. When in power they can then push through left wing stuff.

Blair did this (much as y'all hate the guy) - he had loads of left wing stuff he brought in but he didn't shout about them ahead of elections.

You can't actually believe such nonsense? Also, how are they making people believe they'll be a competent government? What's the relationship there between hiding 'left wing stuff' and competent governance?

It's about what gets them elected. In England, they need to talk like right wingers to get in, then govern like left wingers.

The SNP do the opposite here - they sound left wing to get elected but don't govern as socialists.

The problem with that is many on the left lose hope and don't bother voting. Labour need a galvanising message rather than just Tory lite.

Ben (please give me a job when you become PM Keir) Bradshaw.

Another Labour careerist with impeccable non-working class credentials.

I see the Labour left have emerged to attack Starmer. John McDonnell in the Guardian...

Quote

But the clique of advisers that now surrounds Keir Starmer and appears to control the party seems drunk on its own power and to have lost all appreciation of the party’s traditions of mutual respect and solidarity.

Not to mention that age-old Labour tradition of losing elections.

Shame they don't enjoy attacking the Tories with the same vim and vigour.

The Tory goal is just too wide and too open for Labour not to take a massive run up and boot the ball directly into their own face.

That bit in bold applies to both the leadership and the lefty Corbyn types.

No argument from me. When Corbyn was in charge a big chunk of the PLP attacked him far more than they did the Tories.

Blair only did it in his first term as they were manifesto relics from John Smith's leadership. After Labour's first term they were anything but radical.

Why would they? They work in partnership with them up here and actually sack folk for refusing to join the love in. Both anti-democratic Little Englander gammon shit shows. We know it and the Scousers know it, just need the rest to give their heads a wobble.

I think the question in thread title has been answered comprehensively.

None, no point whatsoever, they are a fucking sham & if you’re inclined to vote Labour at the moment, just go the full hog & vote Tory.

I’m getting close to the point where they are approaching hatred levels I have for conservatives.

The Labour and Conservative parties are the Old Firm of UK(RIP) politics. Two sides of the same coin.

I see Sam Tarry doing his reselection bid for his seat no harm at all. Joining Corbyn today on the picket line and attacking Starmer on TV.

Attaboy, you fucking muppet.

Nobody can ever remember a word he said about the Tories, but he got his dim, uncomprehending face on the TV harming Labour's chances.
