pandarilla
One more push comrades, one more push. Trouble is 5 years further in the future and its a movie we have seen time and time again. What movie is that? Are you referring to governments in the 70s? And if so, what age were you during that time? You're giving it the 'far left' chat but with no great substance, other than the daily mail scare stories (where Corbyn grumps his way round modern capitalist museums).

NotThePars
Not quite. Normal is defined by whoever is in charge and can then define the narrative. Most recently that has been the Conservatives. An elected Labour UK government can define the new Normal and if it moves left then Normal moves Left. (Similarly if a government moves Right then Normal moves Right). There are much, much more actors at play in shaping public discourse than just the government. It’s clear the people that learned the most from Gramsci in politics in the last 40 years were Thatcher’s mob and her successors but they worked in cooperation with big business and interfered in organisations such as the BBC to shape their consensus.

It’s like a new manager bounce it football; it will settle down. Saw the guy who runs these polls earlier say that he couldn’t predict anything from them other than it was good news for the SNP! I’m assuming it’s because we will lose few votes to this lot whereas Labour and Tory will so under FPTP we benefit.

The recipe for decades in the political wilderness is for the leader, any leader, of either of the 2 primary political parties to just turn round and say..... "...Well, yes, we know that you the public were promised that the result of the referendum would be honoured, but now we're not going to do that....." What's going on now is 'high politics', and low calculation. Certain things have to be played out. For me Corbyn is doing OK so far. I went for Remain, and still reckon things are going to be OK. Literally nothing in the post you were responding to had to do with Brexit, you absolute melt.

Chapelhall chap
Since 1900 there only have been 6 Labour governments, and they've held power for a grand total of 18 years. The last vaguely Socialist government the UK had, was that of Clement Atlee just after the war. So if you mean 'it's rightful place in the political spectrum' is one of permanent, useless opposition, then I suppose you're correct. Just catching up with the thread.. Where did you get the 18 years evidence? I can see at least 30 since 1945 from 4 periods of government.
zidane's child
Joan Ryan has also resigned from Labour and joined the new Indy Group Party.
Donathan
The independent group isn't even a political party, just a group of independent MPs. I haven't seen any suggestion that they're going to recruit like minded individuals to stand on a joint ticket in a general election tbh. If there was an election tomorrow I'd bet it would just be those 7 standing in their existing seats and not trying to actually oust sitting Labour MPs.

Another Zionist scumbag. I didn’t know that though until I googled her as, like some of the others, she is a total nonentity. I’ve heard a couple of them being interviewed since their departure; the sound pretty ordinary.

Totally agree. The majority of these labour defectors have defected for the wrong reasons. There is much to criticize Corbyn for but anti-semitism is not one of them.

My age should be of no concern to you and I invite you to be considerably more discrete. I haven't a clue what you are referring to in your astonishing last paragraph. Look at modern history and check out when the last labour prime minister was elected that wasn't called Tony. I'll give you a clue. It was 1974. The last left winger that England chose was called Clement and even I wasn't born then. Hitch up to that wagon if you will. Me, I prefer a different settlement.

Sooky
Apparently Anna Soubry, Sarah Wollaston, and Heidi Allen may all resign tomorrow. I’m shocked Wollaston has hung around for so long as I recall she didn’t even vote for the budget last year.
