Great result for Bo’ness Athletic tonight against Beith in the Scottish cup.

Another promotion beckons for them this season, it will not be long before we have two teams from Bo’ness playing in the lowland league.

Popped along to watch a first division game at Swifts after being v impressed by 2-3 of their players. Weird game, Blackburn are average but managed to be 3-0 without having to do that much due to v poor defending/lack of leadership at back.

Probs should have been 2 reds, one for Swifts captain as last man and a v poor tackle on player I came to watch, Swifts no 10, Liam Kelly.

Predictions........On this showing, a long season for Swifts who'll be hoping there are 3 worse teams in league.  Blackburn will be bottom half but have just enough to stay up........

On another day that could have been 6 or 7-1. I have to say Swifts on that performance are showing relegation form, and Blackburn mid table. The ref had to play several minutes to allow Swifts to score.

Can't disagree, broadly in line with my view 🤔😊 Additional time on was due to water breaks......which I thought was a bit of a stretch as it wasn't that hot 🤔😎

A thumping 6-0 win for Bo'ness Athletic tonight against fellow promoted team, Edinburgh South, with all the goals coming in the 2nd half!

Who's going to stop them winning this division.......in a canter!? Played 3, won 3, +15 goals!

Emphatic 2nd half, Cunningham a real real classy player at this level.

Result of the day Arniston doon the Pans.

Bo'ness drop more points, maybe not as clear cut as some think though still reckon it's a race for 3rd place behind Camelon and Bo'ness.

Great comeback for the Burnie today. Down to 10 men after 35 mins, then 0-2 down at HT, they fought back to grab a point.  This on the back of a win at Dalbeattie Star last week in the SCC.

Nobody is talking about the elephant in the room. Referee standards hit rock bottom in this match. Boness were the better team by along way on paper. The referee on arrival was rude and disrespectful to the Blackburn Secretary. On exit ting his changing room was seen to be overly friendly with the Boness players (in any other sport eg Rugby or Rowing the official would recuse themselves). Now onto the incident that caused the major controversy. Free kick awarded to Blackburn on left side near centre line, in Boness penalty area, referee swears at all players, Blackburn 9 Campbell asks referee to refrain from bad language towards all players, this results in Campbell straight red. Campbell as walking away says it would all be caught on video.. 5 Mildred who was and is the Blackburn captain then gets shown the red card and walks off the field towards the bench, only for a Boness player to point out that you can’t send one of only 2 players that under the new rule CAN talk to the referee. Referee calls Mildred back on but moves ball into Bomess  penalty box and awards Boness a free kick. Shambolic officiating. Unfortunately for the 1st division referee’s can only climb the ladder. This referee will not progress any further so he will be officiating at this level, until the SFA hands his cards, this will occur never because SFA is a closed society. and this will not demote referees. Final result 2 2,

The current Top 3 is what I would have had in any order at the start of the season. Expected Camelon & Nitten to push on from 4th & 5th last season as they weren't far behind Whitburn and decent distance from the rest, and Bo'ness Athletic to have another promotion year.

I'm sure that Bo'ness Athletic will bounce back from this week+ pretty quick (Camelon loss in the Qualifying Cup, loss to Leith, and draw with Blackburn), but this is the kind of stumble many were expecting. The First Division is really competitive and everyone can take points off each other.

Newtongrange were given 3 easy goals yesterday.

I didn't think there was much between the teams. Poor WW defending costing them again.

Still early days for Star but they'll need to up their game if they want promotion. Crossgates going about their business quietly and will want a quick return to Premier league.

Bit harsh on Nitten who coud have been out of sight after 25 minutes. They missed a few chances, mainly caused by their pressing and poor WW possession. WW came into game as the 1st half progressed and got a soft, but correct, penalty.

Nitten's 2nd goal wasn't "given". A great cross, beautifully finished.

In 5 league games, Nitten have only conceded one goal from open play - not "up their game" material. They're a very young side, particularly offensively, but they'll get better and comfortably deserved to win on Saturday. I don't recollect a single chance for WW in the 2nd half.

Crossgates have hit a bit of form, but Nitten beat them 3-1 on opening day. No doubt Camelon & Bo'ness will be challenging and are likely to be promoted, but Nitten must be delighted how they've started their league season.

All 3 goals came from balls outside box (perhaps ball was inside for 1st goal?), none of the goals were gimmies, as Nitten forwards had to get to ball to score on each occasion. As such, what constitutes easy goals for you?

As pointed out above losing possession for a start.

Balls into the box defenders should easily be dealing wi. Poor defending. Fair enough maybes you just have quicker and fitter forwards.

By the way WW have a very young side too which shows at times. They'll learn.

Its aw aboot opinions.
